Hotel Guest Reviews of the Allerton Hotel Chicago

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location was ideal for the trip

I was provided with a room upgrade upon check in which seemed quite small. However, the price I quoted seemed comparable. I can imagine what the original room size would have been.

This hotel has one of the best locations in Chicago for tourists.
The rooms and accommodations are NOT 4 star level.

Everything about this hotel is not maintained very well at all. The carpets are dirty and stained. The hallways and public spaces are dirty and not maintained. There is no pool, no exercising room, and no real amenities you expect with 4 stars. Location is the only reason to book a stay at this hotel.

The location was great.
Upon check-in I was informed I had a full size bed, I was disappointed about that, The clerk explained that Priceline purchases a block of rooms at a very low rate and typically they are low end.

Location
AC did not work. Took two requests. Hallway never vacuumed during stay. Shade in bathroom did not cover window fully.

The location was amazing! Close to everything I needed!
I was somewhat dismayed to see that my curtains had stains on them. I also had a stained towel my first night. A hotel like the Allerton should not tolerate that.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. It's close to tons of good bus routes and within walking distance of both Streeterville and River North/Near North Side restaurants. Because it is an older hotel, everything is quite small. The bathrooms are practically (at least in my room) European-sized tiny. The elevators are also small, and rather slow. I wish that the hotel had free wifi--if my library can have it, and I'm paying what I paid to stay here, I want free wifi! I also had some issues with staining on my curtains and my first night's towel, which was disappointing. I would hope they have a laundry or laundry service. A lot of show is given to the overpriced bar (at which I did not dine) and less so to the rooms, I think. But it's great for the location. I'd probably pick another hotel in the same area for better amenities with the same location benefit. ...read more

Staff was nice
Parking for $50 at the hotel was outrageous but I guess that is Chicago!!

Great location for shopping on Michigan Avenue. I don't know that I would have thought of this as a 4 star hotel...maybe 3. No pool was a downside for my family. Staff was definitely friendly. Wish I could have found somewhere else to park,
xxx for one night was just too much!

The location and the staff are 5 stars.
Small rooms, smelling moldy and smoky. First night, a big cockroach (the one that flies) came to welcome me. Disappointed.

The hotel is very well located and has very good staff. It is definitely a 3 stars, but with potential to be 4 after a good refurbishment and better cleaning services. I would stay there again for a short business trip, but not in a trip with my family.

I was able to check in at 9:30am, what a releif.
The hallway on the 4th floor had an unusual smell, but it did not leak into the room.

Yes, room are small but at 6' 250 lbs I had no problem navigating the room. Staff was very nice and helpful.
