Hotel Guest Reviews of the Baymont Inn & Suites South Haven

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The breakfast setup was nice, and the lobby was clean. The hot tub was a nice feature, but it wasn't hot one of the nights during our stay.
One of our beds was not made(2 queen bed room), not a big deal, but certainly not expected when coming back to a hotel room after a day away. We were asked mid-day to come back to the hotel and change rooms, it was a big inconvenience.

The hotel was clean, and staff friendly and mostly helpful. I needed to print up some documents and allowed me to do so at no charge. However I had to add a day onto our reservation on the front end, and made it through a different service. When I checked in, I informed the staff of this, and they said based on their bookings we would be able to use the same room for all three nights rather than have to switch mid-day (we were not going to be local during the day). At 10am the next morning we got a phone call saying we needed to switch rooms before 3pm. If they had told us the night before we could have planned accordingly and brought our stuff with us so we would not need to return to the hotel. However I was told we would be able to remain in the same rooms (2 rooms booked) for the duration of the weekend. Very frustrating. ...read more

The staff were great. The majority of our wedding guests stayed here and it was a great fit for all of them. South Haven is a great little town. We will definitely stay here in the future.
The only issue is the key readers on the door. The magnetic reader is very finicky and it gets frustrating at times. It is a minor inconvenience though.

This is a good option if you plan to stay in the room only a short portion of the day. South haven is a great summer town to visit. And staying out of the room is not hard to do. You are right by the highway, which makes it easy to drive up to Saugatuck for the dune rides, or down to Coloma for the Deer Forest petting zoo. The staff can help give you tips for a fun filled day.

Staff was very nice and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. No complaints (other than the scummy pool after several people were in it - but it was late in the evening at that point). Great location and easy to find.
The tele had very limited selection. Only 12 channels total & no station guide. The pool was very nice at first, We were the first ones to use it but when we decided to go back several hours later the pool had a scum of skin cells & hair floating on top.

Close to the freeway. Got a room on the 3rd floor which seemed to be newly remodeled. Hotel was pretty empty.

Staff was helpful. I smelled cigarette smoke from a nearby room. Staff swapped (upgraded) my room far away, & said they do a walk-through every shift. Violations result in
xxx fines. Perfect!
Breakfast was really good. Just would have liked some more protein. (Eggs & not just yogurt.)

Owner is making upgrades (to be in line with now being a Baymont Inn. As of 2/2013, they don't yet have food vending machines. Only drinks. That will change soon. Just bring a snack if you want one.

Nice location, large rooms, friendly staff. Safe parking.
No, liked most everything. Could have used some fresh fruit at Breakfast, but everything else was good.

Great location, 1/2 mile from Lake Michigan beach. Walking distance to a Walmart, restaurants, and a gas station with snacks.

Nice location and reasonable rates. Not bad.
Pool was too cold to swim and the room was not as clean as other places we've stayed recently. That said, for the price, I expected some issues.

Not a bad place for the price, but it is a bit rough around the edges.

The location is good - although it's not near the beach it is just a short drive. Easy on/off the highway but no highway noise. Near stores, restaurants, gas & downtown.
There was a suspicious hole above the bed pointing towards the mirror. Made us feel very uncomfortable but we were only in the room long enough to sleep and we left first thing after we woke up.

South Haven is a ghost town this time of year but the hotel seemed extra dismal. The hotel definitely could use some TLC.

location. great off season rate
no mini fridge. broken light as soon as I walked in the room. no desk for reading/computer use

Can't beat the location. Quick drive to lake mich and downtown shops. My window overlooked Wal Mart parking lot, and it was fairly noisy. The rate was excellent, but the hotel needs to be maintained a little better, and there was space for a mini fridge but it had been taken out of the room. Cable reception was flaky. In short, location rules and desk staff friendly, but this was not a great experience overall. ...read more
