Hotel Guest Reviews of the Best Western Avalon Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location was good for my purposes and the staff was very efficient.

My room had towels left from the previous guest and the hotel had some cosmetic dings (bent elevator doors, television credenza where the doors would not stay open). The breakfast selection was very generic and average.

It was very affordable and wasn't too far away from downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter.
I don't know what cleaning products the staff used but the hotel had a strange smell... Sometimes it smelled like Orange Glo, sometimes it smelled like old makeup.

The hotel wasn't above and beyond my expectations, but it was adequate enough to act as a pit stop for our New Orleans getaway. My only pet peeve was about the continental breakfast, the staff didn't do very good at keeping the food replenished, and I saw them helping themselves and eating right at the bar on more than one occasion.

The price.
It was under renovation and not many guests so the breakfast was quite shotty.

frontdesk was very helpfulin sortingout all the problems
it was dirty, the floors smelt, the rooms smelt, this place desperately needs investments

Too many mistakes and errors happened: at first they didn't find my name on the list. After a looong wait it turned out they had filed me under my first name, the next day our keys didn't work anymore. The third night we had to move to a new room as our previous room hadn't been cleaned, the following morning a flooded bathroom floor due to a clogged toilet made my wife finally go nuts. When we checked out we were told that all that had only happened as they had erroneously listed my prebooking for the year 2013 (and not 2012), By far the worst experience of our trip through the American south.Front desk staff were (very) helpful, indeed. ...read more

The free breakfast was nice.
The tiny pillows made it hard to get comfortable

It was in a nice location, but the rooms definitely need updated. Plus, the bathrooms were TINY! The staff was friendly and helpful.

It was inexpensive.
Our phone did not work. Had to use my cell for local calls.

They are not customer friendly.

Considering that 10 other relatives stayed downtown with no advance notice of a parking fee of 40 to.

Decent location, not far from downtown New Orleans.
Horrible smell of mold in the room. The neighborhood was also bad.

I would avoid this hotel. They have mold problems.
