Hotel Guest Reviews of the Best Western Plus Royal Oak Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The smoking room was uninhabitable.

Stay away... sleeping in your car would be a big improvement

The lobby smelled funny. I thought it smelled like vinegar but my husband thought it smelled like b.o.

My family had time to experience the hotel. In error I booked it for the wrong date of 4/13/13 and when I realized it was the wrong date it was too late for me to change it to the correct date of 7/13.
Per the PriceLine, the hotel would not accomodate me because I did not call to cancel before, I was willing to pay extra charges. As I mentioned, I did not realize till it was too late. Unfortually this was a family wedding.

Make sure when you go through Priceline to book a hotel, make sure to have another 2nd pair of eyes look at the printed reservation to confirm all the information is correct. Sometimes for some reason mentally you may look at your reservation and the information looks correct when actually it is not.

Very helpful staff. Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was more than I expected for being free.
We could hear the people above us walking. The floor would creak making an annoying sound. Luckily they weren't up much during the evening and left early in the morning. We were in room 214.

It was conveniently located close to our destination, Cal Poly for a tour. There are restaurants and shops right across the street for dining options and the free breakfast allowed us to eat something quick before our tour. I would definitly come back.

The location is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is aging and the rooms were not as up to date as I prefer. My air conditioner was not working properly. The wifi signal in my room was to weak to use.

This is a great location with friendly staff, the decor is out dated which makes you feel like your not getting as good of a bargain as you thought but it was safe and clean, I would stay there again if I had too but prefer something more modern and up to date. The wifi access where my room was located was absolutely unusable the signal was too weak.

Property was clean and well lit, breakfast was good.
Originally placed in a smoking room, even after signing that we would not smoke in the room. When I called the front desk I was told nothing could be done because I booked through priceline. After I spoke to manager and priceline room was changed.

Room are clean and well kept. Slept well on the comfortable bed. The breakfast was good; several choices available like fresh fruit, yougurt, juice, microwave breakfast sandwiches and make your own wafle station. Insufficient parking leads to guests having to park at adjacent IHOP which is very crowded in the morning. Although priceline lists the hotel as non smoking make sure to request a non smoking room at check in. We were placed in a smoking room then told they would not move us because we had booked through a third party. My wife and I had to call priceline and the hotel manager to get our room switched. ...read more

Very calm atmosphere at the hotel and the surrounding neighborhood. Shopping center across the street. Landscape of the surrounding area. Happy that cribs are available. Also has a small semi fenced area for dogs.
BBreakfast options for the free breakfast was skimpy. IHOP next door, sharing the parking lot offered 20% discount with key. Kinda lame. Hotel has thin walls. Not enough to hear talking, but pounding while walking and pipes make noise when others shower.

Staff was very friendly, hotel was clean, and location was right off the freeway. This is a fine place to use as a stop over from the Bay Area to LA.
Yes. I had stayed here before and they used to have a fabulous indoor hot tub/spa. It is no longer there. They now have a perfectly fine outdoor spa which would have relieved some of my disappointment had it actually been working!

As stated above, this place is perfectly fine ( clean, friendly staff, good location ). The breakfast should really be called a continental breakfast rather than a " full breakfast ". The pool is lovely and it was a shame the spa was out of order.
