Hotel Guest Reviews of the Best Western Summersville Lake Motor Lodge

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Inexpensive, clean and
convenient location.
Walls are very thin. Really noticed room noise from beside/above/below.

We stayed overnight at this hotel while on a long road trip. This our second time staying here. The rooms have been recently renovated and are clean. The bathrooms could use some attention but they are clean. The rooms also conveniently have a fridge and microwave. Breakfast is included but don't expect much. Toast, oatmeal, coffee, juice, cereal. But it's enough for grabbing something early in the morning. But this place is so cheap, we'd stay here again. Dining Tip: The Mexican restaurant in Summersville (La Carreta) is very good. Super cheap and authentic. No atmosphere whatsoever but good value. ...read more

It looked as though the rooms were in the process of being updated. New fixtures, shower and counter tops, AC.
The carpets were not vacuumed very well, and the fabric furniture wasn't very clean.

The room was a bit stuffy when we arrived, but after we aired it out a bit it was okay. The room could have been cleaner, but it appeared the hotel was in the process of updating. It is fine for a 2-star. The continental breakfast was minimal. We prefer a 2.5 hotel.

Room was clean, a microwave and a fridge was already there at no extra cost . That came in handy as well.
The elevator was the worst thing about the stay . Too super slow would be an understatement. We stayed on the 3rd floor going up and down took forever.

I have stayed at this hotel many times without a problem. Did not like anything this stay.
I did not order a smoking or handicap room. This is what they gave me and it stank very badly. A handicap person could have used this room. I am not handicap.

Hotel in convenient and usually our stay is pleasant. This time I received a smoking room which I did not order. It smelled very bad...

It was easy to find right on the highway.
Lobby/breakfast area was tiny; room looked like 1950's motel; check-in lady was surly.

This motel was not up to Best Western standards based on previous experience. As soon as you enter the "lobby", you feel as if you have time-warped to the 50's. The tiny lobby area also included the breakfast counter and 4 small tables. Check-in lady was surly - she gave us a handicapped room which I did not request and refused to let us change to another room. The room was fairly clean, but just plain ugly - nothing matched and the grout on the bathroom tile was either full of mold or just horrible gluppy black. Breakfast was the worst we had after being in hotels for a month - no waffles, no peanut butter, no yogurt, no muffins. ...read more

Friendly staff.
Old and run down, a bit seedy. OK for 1 night though.

Our room, on the second floor, had the most horrendously loud squeaky floor at the sink. Can't imagine how the people below us could stand it. Very thin sheets and towels. You could actually see through the sheets!

Staff was super-friendly.
Noise - heating unit, road, and other rooms.

Good no frills place to stay. Would be OK if you're a sound sleeper - the heating/AC unit makes some interesting noise every time it turns on, semi truck noise from the highway is audible, and it's easy to hear other guests in nearby rooms.

It was in a good location for my travel needs.
Thin walls, you heard everything above you or next to you...the beds were uncomfortable.

While the hotel has some new case goods and linens, which are very nice, it lacks in comfort and exterior appeal. The staff was helpful and very nice. But it is a one star at best!
