Rooms are very outdated and need major renovation.

Good hotel. Rooms are a disappointment but the service and location make it acceptable.

Really old and feeling like it!

This hotel is in an incredible location, close to Back Bay, Boston Common, Beacon Hill and downtown. Although a gorgeous looking building and lobby, it is beginning to show it's age, which is really old. Service was very good and there are a ton of restaurants within a very short walk.

Staff.
The room was tiny.

The location was great, staff wonderful. Smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The hotel shower was three feet wide! No hair dryer either.

They have preserved historic charm without it feeling museum-like.
Nothing I didn't like except the coffeemaker in the room didn't work.

A great alternative to much pricier neighbors with all the beauty and charm of old and new Boston. I ordered a ceasar salad and glass of wine and both were excellent. Staff was very nice and helpful.

The hotel was very crowded which I am sure effected my opinion of my stay ( had to wait 20 minutes just to get an elevator when checking in, very noisy, etc ). The hotel was in a great location. I had a petite room - petite really meant tiny! The bathroom was barely large enough to be functional. The view was horrible (a gravel roof ). The room really needed to be updated and should have been cleaner. It was really lacking in available plug ins. ...read more
