Hotel Guest Reviews of the Cecil Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It was very conveniently located close to the place I had to work.
Weak shower, and cramped bathroom with no shelf space.

It is cheap and if you have to be Downtown like me very well located (I was 3 blocks away from the office), but other than that it is a typical old residential hotel with around 600 rooms and a portion of that still working as hotel rooms, the rest is rented as low income housing I guess. Don't expect a hotel to be living in style like the Standard where I also stayed before but that was booked. But then I paid for 4 nights less than what I paid for 1 at the Standard. Great if you just need a place to crash. But get the single room with shower for a little more if you can. ...read more

No sinks, no ice machines, staff is rude,
you will be fooled by the pictures.

Will never stay there again. The room was awful. No sinks to wash hands. No face towels. Just a terrible experience.

The service, staff, security, last customer service, management, condition of rooms, and just overall a horrible hotel!

after traveling too many hotels in my life I've came to a conclusion that that was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I was not pleased with a custom service.

The lobby.
Everything else.

Shared bathrooms, dirty rooms, bad smell, no WiFi in room and tons of homeless people living there.

The reception/lobby looks elegant.
The lack of toilet/bathroom shower is the most shocking travel experience I have ever had. Unsanitary!

I will not stay at this hotel for free. Receptionists were unfriendly. Toilets/shower rooms are located outside the rooms. Poor design for family with children. No air-conditioner/heater in the room. Carpet appear unsanitary.

The lobby entrance.
Armed security guard with gun acting like and talking about a gang when I had concerns about cleanliness and lack of hot water.

Pretty lobby.
The roaches and strong smell of insecticide.

Not a recommended hotel, they mislead the type of rooms, not clean, very small, and the insect problem was unbeatable. It would be a good idea to remove them from your list or update the booker on what they will be walking into.

Very good hotel, we cannot find a better price, nice and helpful staff. Very correct area. I already recommended it.
Nothing to complain about.

Close to blue line direct Downtown and airport. Simply fantastic.

This hotel is convenient to all of Downtown Los Angeles.
The hotel has shared restrooms/showers even though I never had to use them.

Hotel is inexpensive, great for the money the only downer is the area at night other than that the staff is excellent, if you had questions or needed something they were glad to assist you.

The staffs are nice.
The location, not safe, although convenient if you have something to do in downtown.

I think I won't stay in this hotel anymore. The furnitures are quite old, Internet only in the lobby, shared bath room. The people there are quite nice, I like this.
