Hotel Guest Reviews of the Chelsea Inn

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The toilet was only clogged for 4 hours. After that, they fixed it.
They did not clean the sheets before I checked in. This was obvious because there were multiple hairs on my pillow and grit in the sheets. The hotel refunded me a whole $30. Never again!

The toilet was out of commission for 4 hours and the bed linen was not changed before I checked in.

This hotel was extremely affordable and perfect for my needs, which was a bed, close to union square, Internet connection, and a restroom.
I knew that this hotel had stairs only and shared bathrooms so my expectations were met.

This hotel was extremely affordable and perfect for my needs, which was a bed, close to union square, Internet connection, and a restroom. If you stay here, you must be able to take stairs and haul your own luggage. The bathroom is shared but everyone was respectful and clean about the use of the restroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are no perks like elevators, hot tubs, or common areas. It is like staying in a friend's extra room and sharing the bathroom. There is also no way to make food but I did have a small refrigerator in which to keep my drinks, yogurt, and sandwich supplies. The subway is close too. I loved my time here but amenities aren't abundant and I knew that before arrival so my expectations were met. ...read more

The staff is very helpful and accomodating.
As long as you understand what you're getting, the Chelsea will meet and exceed all your expectations. The rooms are small and a bit funky/charming. There's no elevator. You share a bathroom with one other room. The wifi is spotty. Ear plugs are necessary

This is a great bargain. The little cafe next door has wonderful breakfasts. It's easy to get to the sunway. There's lots of great retail and dining nearby.

Inexpensive hotel with a fabulous location. Basic, but clean and safe.
No public spaces and very iffy wifi.

Inexpensive hotel in a great location. Rooms are small, but clean, with fridge and sink. Shared bath on the hall. No lobby or public space - breakfast (pastry and coffee/tea) was at the restaurant next door. Free wifi, but kind of iffy; I had to sit in the hall to get a signal.

Very very clean
The staff we're overly friendly. Just told us to take a book and map "because they're helpful"

This hotel is in a good location only a block from the subway. The hotel is outdated but very clean. I would stay again - the free wifi is a bonus and an out of country traveller.

Excellent location for the price point. Easy to get to and from the office by subway, taxi, or walking.
The in-room carpets are very old and dated.

The hotel is quite charming. Excellent location and price for a quick busines trip. The staff is friendly and the room was a little larger than I expected. I will stay here again on my next business trip. I did not find the "shared" bathrooom an issue.

The location on the lower eastside is perfect for our plans. It's extremely easy to make connections to any other part of Manhattan and also easy to get to/from JFK by public transportation.
There's nothing not to like - given the price range - this is an outstanding value. It's convenient, clean, charming, helpful staff, next to a fabulous bakery/cafe, convenient to subways, etc. One thing to bear in mind... NO ELEVATOR. You will need to com

This is a GREAT place! Given the price range - this is an outstanding value. The staff is very courteous, helpful, professional. It's convenient, clean, charming, helpful staff, next to a fabulous bakery/cafe, convenient to subways, etc. One thing I especially appreciated about our room (203)... it was on an interior courtyard, so there was absolutely no traffic noise. I just couldn't get over how quiet it was. Definitely a bonus after flying in from the west coast. I really got a good night's sleep! ...read more

Inexpensive
Room was dingy, awkward layout, no en suite toilet, window sealed shut, a pair of doors to adjoining room meant noise traveled between rooms.

Carpets and linens were clean. Walls and decor very dingy. Inexpensive but not a great room.

Quaint old-world atmosphere.
No elevator.

Hotel is very quaint with quilt bedspread. Furniture not in great shape, but the room was clean and the guests and staff friendly. Stayed on 4th floor and guests helped with suitcase both times. There is a disco next door; however, I was on the opposite side of the building staying during the week, so it was quiet. Yes, you will be sharing a bathroom; however, the bathroom was clean before and after other guests used it. ...read more
