Hotel Guest Reviews of the Courtyard By Marriott Detroit Downtown
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.April 17, 2013

Very unhappy about one thing. The hotel staff left a receipt for our room payments (movie rental, parking) under our hotel door on the day we checked out. The receipt was for $48. I went to pay with cash when we checked out. I was told the payment had already gone through on my credit card. I found that strange because I thought you needed a cardholder's consent to process a payment. Once back home, I found out they had charged my card for more than $100 -- and I have no receipt of what it is for. This is very unprofessional -- if not illegal. ...

This is a nice hotel for a weekend trip. I would recommend it if you are doing something in the area and not planning to venture too far off the beaten path. It is within 20 minutes drive and 10 minutes walk of shopping, good soul food, local attractions and theatre or sports shows.

We found this hotel to be a great place to stay, from the easy, quick-yet-unhurried check-in by friendly staff to the convenient-to-downtown location to the comfortable bed with ample pillows. We were unsure about walking to Greektown/Bricktown at night, since Detroit has a reputation for being unsafe, but we were assured by some folks who stay regularly that it was just fine, as it turned out to be. We walked to Flood's Bar & Grille, had a terrific dinner and enjoyed some hot funky jazz, never felt in any danger at all. Still, it was reassuring to get back to the hotel around midnight to find a couple of smiling police officers in the lobby checking everyone for room keys. When you don't want to walk, the People Mover has a stop right at the hotel, and when you don't want to go outside, the hotel is connected to the Renaissance Center by an enclosed skywalk. But I recommend going outside and walking. Detroit certainly has a lot of troubles, but walking around the downtown both Saturday night and Sunday, we found a lot of life and a lot of friendly people. Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart; I can feel it beat out loud! ...
