Daiichi Fuji Hotel

It's such a great location and convenient when dragging luggage around, though I could not spot it and figure out it's location when I arrived (Thus, I wasted money on a taxi going to the wrong hotel.) so go into the station concourse and look for the tourist information desk--they're very helpful and speak English well. There are 2 sides to the station, and you must get out on the right one (not Sakai-dori). If you arrive by bus, you arrive on the correct side of the station. This hotel is only 2 blocks away. I got lucky and found a popular barbecue place with great prices and selection: you can order smallish samples of meats and vegetables to barbecue at the table for well under $20 even with a beverage. There are many sake/ grilled bar food (like Japanese tapas) around there, but I found the Alegria Spanish bar more comfortable as a solo visitor. Despite how bustling Nagoya is, I found the hotel room to be very quiet and restful. I tried the buffet breakfast but it's not exceptional--just a change or treat to have both some western and Japanese/other Asian fare and fill up well for under $15.
