Days Inn Des Moines - West Clive

For the money, the hotel was acceptable.

LOCATION WAS THE BEST THING. IT'S IN BETWEEN ALL THE SHOPPING PLACES. NEEDS UP DATE JOB REALLY BAD.

When we got in our first room, the heater didn't work and it seemed like the room hadn't been used for weeks. It just had this stale smell to it. We had them move us to another room as this one was FREEZING and the heater simply didn't work. The knob actually fell off when we tried to turn it. We still turned it to every setting and it didn't help. So we got moved to another room. This room I swear was 90 degrees when we got in. Not a big deal as it was cold outside and turning the heater off and opening the door cooled it down quick. The problem was that the heater seemed to have 2 settings: OFF and SAUNA so it was a pretty miserable night of being too hold, then too cold. 66.67% of us didn't sleep well. ...read more

Again, close to I-35 and to many restaurants and shopping (if that's your thing). For what we paid this is a great hotel. I'd even have paid a bit more because the rooms were clean, comfortable, and didn't smell of smoke. The breakfast was good, a little messy but I don't really mind that. Very pleased and impressed by the gentlemen who checked me in and also the one who checked me out. Both very nice. At check in, he was very helpful when i needed to change my room type. Don't stay there!

Staff was friendly but lacked the knowledge in dealing with our reservations. We reserved two rooms when we arrived only one room was reserved. When in our room, they had double booked our room giving key to another party who walked in our room. Rooms were very outdated, with outside access only. Overall, not a good experience.

It was ok not my favorite

The toaster and microwave down in the lobby/breakfast area did not work right. The breakfast did not contain any low fat or healthy selections. Yogurt, "fresh" fruit.
