Hotel Guest Reviews of the Diamondhead Beach Resort
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.February 13, 2013

There was a fire alarm at 0300. My mom was in a handicap accessable room because she is in a wheelchair. During Check In there was a slot on the card to indicate that you needed help getting out of the hotel in the event of an emergency. The Fire alarm sounded in the middle of the night, we left our room which is on the 7th floor and went straight to mom's room on 3rd, there was a slight smell of smoke in the hallway. There is no staging area for handicap access. We waited and even called the front desk but no one came to help. No one answered at the front desk. Fortunately the elevator was still operational (it didn't automatically go down to 1st floor and open) After I tested the elevator and found no problems. I visited first and second floor via the stair well. We ended up conducting self rescue.
It turned out the problem was a minor electrical fire on the 3rd floor. The hotel is built of concrete with a sprinkler system so there is almost no chance for fire spread. The hotel's reponse and resources didn't meet my expectations. ...

I stayed at the Diamondhead Beach Resort with two friends and the place exceded my expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and each person I encountered found a way to personalize my experience. The room had great amenities (free wifi, two TVs, refrigerator, dishes/silverware, pull-out couch, etc.). The pool was not overcrowded and the towel service was incredibly easy and convenient. The resort is located on a quiet part of the beach and offers affordable lounge chairs/umbrellas. I would recommend the resort to anyone staying in the Fort Myers area. ...

It's fine if you don't need to eat there or don't require a choice of restaurants and bars. The beachside bar was dingy. The food was ordinary.

Hotel was excellent, my only complaint was the lack of a view. I would go again but make sure no second floor.
