The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. Being handed a warm chocolate cookie at check in was a delightful surprise. I'm accustomed to hailing a cab anywhere in NYC; can't do that in Pitt. They have a shuttle that took me to my appt. wow.
I drove from NYC and this was my first time in Pittsburgh. The hotel had parking and I knew that. Because of where they are situated next to the US Steel building I didn't see the very small sign they had pointing to their garage. I know next time.

If you drive there, do a Google street view so you could see where the entrance to the garage is. My room didn't have a fridge, I learned if you want one, then ask at check in, otherwise fill the sink with ice to store your drinks. Most hotels give you bottled water that is bottled by who-knows-where-this-came-from and tastes like NJ pool water. Not Doubletree. They had two bottles of Nestlé brand water and it was great. I was really surprised that they had a shuttle service that would take you anywhere in the city... AND pick you up. The driver, Nick, was great! He also acted like a local tour guide pointing out some of the local history as we passed them. I've stayed all over the world and was very impressed with the services at this hotel. Great location for what I needed. Helpful and friendly staff. They reimbursed the parking fee due to a mishap with breakfast in-room dining (see below)
We did not receive the bed size that we requested. We requested a King and got two full beds instead. Also, we requested room delivery for morning breakfast but it was not delivered--communications on their breakfast hours was not clear.

Suitable hotel. Right downtown. If they screw up your reservation you get a couple drink coupons, which makes it totally worth it, and I'm not even kidding.

The staff was friendly but the room looks like it was recently remodeled but never fully cleaned up.
I didn't like that the room had marks and paint on most of the walls and floor. Also the toilet would not stop running.

I loved the layout of the room in the queen suite, and found the beds comfortable. The shuttle service was ideal for that area, and anyone who gives me a free cookie I'm gonna like.
The bar at the restaurant was poorly run. Staff had no sense of urgency and didn't bother to wipe off tables. I did feel taken advantage of by the parking garage. I left after my conference shortly a few minutes after 4, and they pinged me for more money.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. Just eat elsewhere and mind your parking.

The staff was very friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The only problem I found with the hotel was that it wasn't as clean as it should have been.
