Staying 'across the river' is one of Washington's best kept secrets... the price was very competitive; the features were excellent; the proximity to everything is excellent from this spot--- less than a 10 minute walk to the metro; but shuttle bus available if you are uneasy in unfamiliar places. Concierge was perfect; her knowledge of the area is excellent; most staffmembers I talked with were long-time 'Washingtonians', knew the area, and were very pleasant. I experienced no hesitation for any question I asked. I heard no unpleasantries/grumblings/complaining from any sideline staff grouping; without exception, everyone I encountered appeared to have a sense of feeling appreciated and valued as an employee. Compared to my other travels over 20 years (extensive as a former USAir employee, business mgr), this ranks as one of my top 10 best experiences ever! ...

It was convenient to the airport. I had an aborted trip due to weather and was looking for a safe place to spend the night (around midnight) and the DoubleTree fit the bill. I've stayed at DoubleTree's below and overall have had good experiences.

The room I stayed is very nice. Clean and large enough. The hotel does not include WiFi nor breakfast in the price. That was a disappointment. Have to go to go to the lobby for free WiFi. A lowly motel gives me free WiFi all across the US, not sure why DoubleTree can not provide that.
