Hotel Guest Reviews of the Doubletree Hotel Washington DC - Crystal City

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. All of the staff members we had contact with were very helpful and friendly. The location was great for everything we wanted to sight-see.
Booking with Priceline was easy and I would do it again, however, the hotel didn't readily have the same information about our "hotel freebies" but when we showed the receipt we had no problems.

The Doubletree by Hilton-Crystal City was only 3 blocks from the Pentagon City Metro Station that took us to every place we wanted to see on our trip to Washington, D.C. The staff members were all very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay there again. About the only suggestion we have is maybe offer a mini-fridge. It was nice to have a hair dryer and iron w/ ironing board, but not necessary. ...read more

Location was close to DC. Hotel is beautiful.
no free breakfast, although there is a Starbucks off the lobby

Be aware that there is a fee to park here $26 per day for self parking. Valet parking is available. Rooftop lounge costs $10 to enter, but has great views.

Every employee at the Doubletree that we encountered was friendly, courteous, and helpful. We utilized the hotel's shuttle to the Metro several times, and found it to be efficient and punctual. The breakfast buffet was a good way to start the day.
It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in the room

The Skydome was relaxing and scenic, although a bit pricey. The food we ordered in was delicious, but a bit pricey. If you are traveling with small children, I recommend bringing snacks and possibly breakfast foods with you to save a bit of money.

Location = good. 5-10 min walk from Metro. Close to DC mall, Arlington cemetery and Pentagon. Gave us fridge rent free. Nice beds. Business center allowed us to print stuff. Gave us a room with two beds.
Parking expensive ($26/night). Staff only moderately friendly & helpful-did not respond to concerns in a timely fashion. Building is old. Price was just "so so" given service. Wireless was $12/night.

Priceline accepted bid was $XX/night which seemed ok given it was spring break week. Parking was $26/night. Wireless internet (we did not pay) is free in lobby, but $12/day in room. I liked that it was near a metro stop and near a mall with a food court. They did provide a fridge at no charge. They also posted a security person on our floor because it was filled with kids on a tour. That was a nice touch. We always had hot water. I would consider this hotel about average across the board - my ratings are 4-6 out of 10. Price for our stay was ok. There is supposed to be a concierge, but the desk was almost always empty. The hotel is old and probably needs updating. Our shower had mildew. Many of our TV channels (e.g. ESPN News) did not work. Vanity in bathroom was very small. ...read more

Considering location in Arlington / across Potomac... Still was a good location - near Metro station. Staff was great. They offered a good package deal on parking/internet access/breakfast buffet (and a tasty buffet to boot).
Very minor but... smell of diesel fuel in lower parking elevator area. Also minor but... Parking spaces became a 'premium' (difficult to find) on Friday evening (when local visitors/others in to use skydome) Lobby bar closed too early for my liking.

Hotel was across the Potomac in Arlington (Crystal City) - but its location was still very good for gaining access to 'downtown' DC / The Mall area. We were but two short blocks away from the Metro. Located within a 'nice area' in general. A very nice mall (Fashion Centre) was also just two blocks away (right by Metro station). The entire staff was always very helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet we enjoyed was tasty. For the price we got our room for... I would recommend to others. ...read more

They gave free cookies.
Dirty room.

Looks good in lobby but room was crummy. It was old with patched up wallpaper and ceiling. Very dirty room. When we first walked in there were stains on the carpet, shower curtain with black mold on it, and dirty closet with molding coming apart and track full of crud. When we checked out early in the morning, there was no bellman to help with bags, so the security guard came up but didn't know how to stack the bags. It was overall not a recommendation I would give. ...read more
