Hotel Guest Reviews of the Extended Stay America Charlotte - University Place

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The staff and the cleanliness. My gripe is no oven in the kitchen. Some that have converted from something else to extended stay have ovens and others don't. Not full kitchens. I get extended stay I want extended stay

The staff was so friendly & made me feel welcome at this location. It is nice to be greeted by your name and have the staff being genuine when they ask you "how you are today?"!
Not having a hairdryer in the room.. sadly somebody took the one hairdryer & did not return it. I know that is considered a "luxery" but when you are traveling you leave things like that behind expecting them in the room.

Do NOT pay attention to the "2-star" rating.. I would give it a much higher rating. The room had a full size refrigerator, stove top, really nice flat screen television and was clean!! The location was perfect.. you could walk next door to a Super Walmart.. restaurants were located within walking distance. The staff is just so friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you get what you need (ex. directions, restaurant suggestions, sights to see or not see). The location is perfect to the Interstate and it is easy to get in & out of. I didn't find anything wrong with this hotel.. other than I feel they are not being given a better star level. In fact, they had a recent inspection and it was like 98.5 A.. how much better can you really get? Thank-you Extended Stay University Place for making my stay really enjoyable. ...read more

The staff at the hotel was awesome and very welcoming. The location was very centralized to the places we needed to travel back and forth from.
I didn't like that the shampoo had to be picked up from the front desk rather than being in the room.

The room was bigger than I expected. I loved the extended stay amenities like the stove and microwave. It was updated with a flatscreen tv and the beds were comfortable. The staff was very personable and really nice.

Front desk staff was courteous and pleasant- the rest of the stay fell short of that completely.
The illegal drugs trading hands in the parking lot and the cracked out clientele should have been a good enough reason to find other arrangements. It was late when we arrived and I doubted that we could find a suitable replacement.

From the second we arrived, I instantly knew why this hotel was located in an industrial park and so close to an adult entertainment venue- aka strip club. If meth heads and assumed prostitutes hanging out in a parking lot with people who appear to have taken up residence here are your thing, look no further! The people lurking, soliciting, and otherwise trespassing should have been enough to make us realize why Priceline was offering a special deal on this supposedly 2 - 2 1/2 star hotel. Check in was a breeze using Passbook on my phone- she didn't even look at it. All she needed was enough information to completely steal my identity. She was nice though. And she was very courteous despite the numerous complaints other residents had upon arrival. I feel bad for her considering she kept even the front doors locked to the hotel and would only let us in after we told her we were there to check in. You get what you pay for... I will say that the previously chewed chewing gum stuck to the headboard and the food stains on the comforters of our room's quaint double beds made us feel like we knew exactly what typically went on in these rooms and what the cleaning staff didn't do after people left. The front desk clerks would have been called but they were quite busy switching rooms for other guests who apparently got the same Priceline deal we received. I removed it and the bedding, said a prayer and stayed up all night on guard in hopes that any one of the numerous people banging and making a fuss in the hallways weren't going to break in, kill us in our sleep, and harvest our organs for black market trading. In a word or two, this place filled a need for our daughters to go to a cheer competition there in Charlotte. For that, thank you. Please do us a favor though and better rank your hotel and adjust your pricing to that of a 1/2-1 star hotel. If given the choice again, I'll sleep in my car on the freeway. ...read more

I did not like the fact that my non smoking room was right next to smoking room. It was like someone was smoking right in my room the whole night. I couldn't really enjoy a good night's rest, because I had to keep getting up to walking outside.

Very central location, near dining, local offices and the Interstate. Friendly front desk clerk who had our room key ready for us before we even arrived.
We were placed in a smoking room, although the smell of smoke wasn't too strong on the furniture and was certainly tolerable for my wife and me (both non-smokers).

Rooms are very well appointed with kitchen, flat screen TV, comfortable beds. Hotel is right in the middle of everything in the University City neighborhood. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Ample parking.
