The surroundings were very safe, which is key in Mexico City.

If you haven't been to the Gran Hotel lately, you haven't been to the Gran Hotel.
Not a thing!

This old lady has had a complete and fabulous makeover. The hotel lobby is lighter with a beautiful marble floor, and the Tiffany ceiling is still there. The rooms are unrecognizable from before. We saved this hotel for the last night of our trip and reserved a junior suite on the Zocalo, and we were not disappointed. The large bathroom was first class, with a great shower and Bvlgari toiletries, and the room was breathtaking. We had stayed in this hotel several times in the past, but it was never so beautiful. Gloriously beautiful European style hotel - canopy beds, Louis 15th furnishings, etc. Very helpful staff, all of whom speaks some English. Rooms facing on street can be noisy, particularly at night during holidays.

Late room clean up.

The ambiance and the staff at the front door of the hotel were superb. The wait staff in the cafe was tremendous and receptionist at front desk was great.

The hotel is fabulous, a work of art.
The staff was not bilingual.

This hotel is a perfect romantic spot right in the center of the city. If you can stash the kids somewhere and spend the night here, it would be worth every penny. The hotel is very beautiful.

The decor of the lobby and the rooms was above and beyond. Just wonderful surrounding in the hotel.
I did not like the fact that the staff other than the conceirge could speak English.
