Hotel Guest Reviews of the Gran Melia Golf Resort Puerto Rico
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 10, 2013

If you are looking at this hotel, I would recommend staying there. It would be a great hotel if you had kids with you, and without kids, it was still really romantic. It is set back a ways from the main road, and it will take you about 30-40 min to get to San Juan. But it's closer to other attractions. It's right near El Yunque (rain forrest), and close to the ferry to Culebra, and the Kayaking in the Bio bay. The Kiosks in Luquillo are close, and a great place to spend your evenings. All of them have good food, many have live music, and they are all close to the beach. They look like a flea market, but don't be fooled, it's some of the finest food you will eat. I recommend "Congas", near the west end of the Kiosks. While it may be true that the beach wasn't the most amazing beach in PR, it's ease of access was wonderful, and it wasn't packed with people. And for me, it was still a perfect beach. As with almost all resorts, and most hotels these days, they will nickel and dime you on everything. Parking is roughly $15/day, internet is roughly $15/day, and I was on T-mobile, and couldn't get any data on the grounds. Maybe AT&T and Sprint could do better, but Verizon doesn't exist on the island. Some people are happy to not be connected, but if you aren't one of them, know that you will have to go to the lobby area for free wifi. I would say if you can get this place for XXX-XXX per night, then factoring in the other fees, that's a good deal for this hotel. All in all, this would be a great place to spend a week in PR, especially if travelling with children. ...

You are stuck with restaurants in the resort. Keep in mind that resort fees and parking fees are charged separately.

Its a great Resort, and one should keep aside an entire day to just chill and unwind at the pool, pool-bar and the beach, just lying on those hammocks.

Needed more staff when checking in. Location of the resort is terrible in a bad area. If getting a unit with kitchen it is not equiped to cook in anyway. If you book at the Gran Melia, plan on not leaving the resort we rented a car and could not find a decent place to eat. One plus we all lost weight. Also no entertainment you will be in bed early.
