Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hampton Inn San Diego-Downtown

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Nice rooms and staff very friendly
The parking was horrible in their lot very narrow and not enough spaces for everyone

Make sure to find parking along the street and use the ear plugs train gets a little loud and airplanes

Staff all very nice, love the free shuttle service to local attractions ie: Zoo also walk - in shower.
Really could use a little TO - BUY snack area as out of town folk don't always find the local super market if there stay is only short !

Would tell folk to look on web sites for your cheap rates..... as they are great or see what discounts you offer ie: Military....AARP..... Triple A... which we were not made aware of by your staff

They were short staffed at the reception counter. It took a really long time to check in. The fact that Priceline was unable to get them my reservation information made it much worse.

The proximity and associated noise from the train was a significant negative factor.

Great value; friendly, helpful staff; excellent if you're not looking for a luxury or resort hotel.
Very close to airport, train and cruise ship port - a bit noisy at times.

Extremely helpful and friendly staff, the shuttle will take you almost anywhere in the city you need to go, can't beat the free breakfast and wi-fi, and evening chocolate chip cookies. Not a luxury hotel, but it had everything we needed at a good price and was very comfortable for our short stay. Pool was well taken care of, no spa though. The only drawback was that the trains run immediately behind the hotel and could get noisy (they give you earplugs in the room!). Overall would recommend. ...read more

Very clean, friendly and well-run.
Room the first night right by train tracks-no discount.

The staff here was friendly and accommodating. Upon check-in, I was told our room was near the train tracks and that they were booked, so we could switch rooms the next day, if desired. Despite the loud disruption of the train all night, there was no discount given. Otherwise, this hotel was wonderful. Good breakfast, clean rooms and common areas. They all seemed to really go the extra mile. ...read more

Great location less than 10 minutes from every place we visited.
The train passing all hours of the day was very annoying.

Great location, parking lot had very tight spaces, there was not a bar in the hotel. Railroad tracks were right behind the hotel, so you could hear the trains all day and night.

Outstanding location next to the harbor.
Railroad tracks run directly next to and behind making it noisy when trains ran by.

Great room, great staff. Located where we needed to be.
Train behind hotel makes an occasional racket.

Exceeded expectations! Much nicer than a recent stay at a big name hotel in Las Vegas. ALL staff were exceptionally friendly and courteous. Facility was well maintained and appeared secure. Thanks!
