Herbert Hotel

I really liked this hotel. While the sign is not inspiring, the recent interior refurbish, perfect location (for shopping/business anyway), clean rooms, and free wifi make this a deal. For a room with a private bath, it was very competitive with the nominally better Powell Hotel, where I've stayed previously.

The hotel is near the Union square,only 3 minutes walk.The cable car come by the hotel.The staff are very nice,give me so many help.

The room is basically for people who are just gonna sleep and get out to see the town or do other things around townThe bathroom and shower are located down the hall from the roomsThe area around the hotel has some good restaurants and barsA nice place to get a drink close to the hotel is Johnny Foley's Irish Pub, it's located one block up from the hotel on O'Farrell

The wall is really thin. You can easily hear people talking next door or on the hallway. Our room is basically one door next to someone's bathroom. My guess is it was a connected room before. We can hear them flushing the toilet.

While the staff were nice, as a business traveler I expected at least a room with a bathroom attached. However, if a failure does happen, you can expect more of a college style hostel stay for yourself. The rooms are in massive need of updating, including more sound proof windows and climate control. If you need a place that's central, clean and a little better than no-frills then this is it. Only downsides, no safe in room and the late checkout was only till 12pm which isn't really late so that should be addressed.

Good price, only one staff in front office though, nice clean room, small bath and
comfortable bed.

Hotel Herbert is located on Powell, in the middle of union square. Great price, clean and very friendly hotel staff.Definitely recommend :)
