Hilton Checkers Los Angeles

Great location if you like downtown area. Although, just a couple blocks away you get into pretty shady environment at night. The hotel is very nice. Rooms are small. Great staff. Beware of high parking fee (I think it was something like $35).

Overall it was a good experience. Most of staff was friendly and courteous. The rooms were very clean & the location of the hotel was perfect for our trip. We had room service a few times and the food was excellent.

If you're staying Downtown i would recommend the Checkers Hotel as a reasonable place to stay that is centrally located to the district and shopping malls.

Parking price were a way to high for the services that was offered with that. We did self parking and it coast over $20 and we had to walk all of our bags around the block to the front doors. Mix drinks were pricey but yummy. Expect to pay at least $12 to $15 dollars for a Margarita. We went to check out the hotel across the street and it was Awesome. According to Hilton, it is in the fine print. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained.

I really liked this hotel, it was close to the downtown LA area and since we were attending a hockey game at the Staples Center the next day, it made traveling to and from the game very convenient. The hotel exceeded my expectations from the beginning, when a doorman held the door and greeted me to walking into my 10th floor room with a gorgeous full length mirror. Located right downtown. Charming hotel with lovely, clean rooms. Service was excellent. However, parking was expensive and located around the corner from the hotel with no direct access. One needed to walk around the block to enter the hotel or use valet parking- also expensive.

The hotel is small, intimate, and beautiful in downtown LA. We opted to stay here for its proximity to the fashion district and for a special treat since we have stayed at most of the other hotels downtown. The valet did not open our doors and the desk was unusually unfriendly. The rooms were nice with a large television but lacked a luggage rack, magnifying mirror, and was dusty with the wall paper coming off in the bathroom. The room service breakfast was very good but cost $53 for two people (which I guess is about standard). Typical downtown LA hotel, charges $38.50 for parking and $9.95 for Internet.
