Hotel Guest Reviews of the Holiday Inn Express Jacksonville
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.April 7, 2013

The location is a busy area, and therefore central to many restaurants and shops, some within walking distance. Despite the busy location, the hotel is quiet, feels safe, and is easy to get to and find whatever is needed. The staff, both management and cleaners, are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a prime consideration to our deciding to stay at the HIE, and it was worthy of our expectations. During our six day stay there was plenty of variety: scrambled eggs were the only consistent hot item; some days accompanied with bacon, sausage, or sausage gravy with biscuits. There is a pancake machine, orange, cranberry and apple juice, all kinds of milk, yogurt, apples, oranges, bananas, muffins, bagels, oatmeal packets, dry cereal, and really delicious cinnamon buns. A really nice extra is the 24 hour self-serve coffee and hot cocoa, and free bottled water available from the front desk upon request. An extra bonus, if you happen to be there on a Wednesday, is the Manager's reception. They have food delivered from a local restaurant, which happened to be from Pancho Villa, I believe, when we were there. It is a nice little perk. The pool looked beautiful, but it was not open since it was too cold to swim during our stay. We did use the workout facilities which are in the Candlewood Suites next door. I believe you can also get passes to a local gym since the hotel does not have facilities of their own. All in all, the Jacksonville HIE is a very nice place to stay for a medium length visit, and we would stay there again without a doubt, if were go there again. ...

Not knowing anything about Jacksonville, I chose Holiday Inn Express because of the brand name even though the quoted price was $20 more. What a mistake. The rooms are old, the mattress was so worn out it was broken down. The linens were old. The parking lot was old and unlit. Didn't feel safe for a late night arrival. There was nothing about this that even came up to the standard of something half the price. I won't be making the mistake of choosing a Holiday Inn product any time soon. On a positive note, the staff is very friendly and courteous. ...
