Hotel Guest Reviews of the Holiday Inn Schenectady

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The staff were extremely friendly - each of them had a very friendly hello for us every time we met. They even stopped to chat briefly, asking us how we were enjoying our stay.

The hotel is well situated for any event in the downtown area. We were able to park the car (free) and walk to the restaurants and concert hall. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

Staff very helpful when I asked to change rooms and brought new key cards right away. Coffee and tea set out by front desk. Decent bar.
open area indoor pool thus inside hotel has a bit of a "pool" smell. Don't get a room that window faces inside courtyard. Bathroom was very small.

Good location to Union College. Not new, but well kept. Good value if your expectations are not unrealistic. Not picturesque.

Our stay was brief but we were pleased with our overall experience.
The pool area closed a bit too early. We had to find a restaurant off site due to the cost of a meal at the hotel restaurant.

Not much. Location was best feature.
Not enough smoking rooms, and the staff kept calling me to tell me so. Also, they kept asking me to 'rate' the hotel 1-10. Bothered me.

Bathrooms were tiny. My room was 3 feet from the pool and noisy. The staff was polite.

Open spaces, easy parking, good value
Location somewhat dark/desolate -not great for night-time walk to/from downtown.

Good value given Priceline discount - very old Holiday Inn - infrastructure & externally showing some age, but well maintained and updated/ modern furnishings. Good public areas, bar, pool, fitness room, lounging. Not great area for night-time walking, even with downtown just4-5 blocks away.

Room size was generally spacous, staff was very friendly
when my room key would not work in my room during my second night i went to the front desk, they gave me a new key with no ID required

Was your basic Holdiday Inn with everything that you would expect, friendly service, pool, hot tub etc. Nice common areas, the fitness center could have used a little tlc, over all a nice hotel. I was a little concerned how easy it was to obtain another room key to my room without any security measures taken as to who I was! Overall it was a pleasent stay and very friendly staff. ...read more

Rooms were great, front desk staff was very kind and helpful, except the security guard. See below.
We did not enjoy our experience because of rude, noisy guests. I had to call the front desk at midnight because the guests were cursing, screaming, smoking at front door. There was no response so hoped the guests would go to bed.

Hotel in is great shape, clean, unfortunately the pool closes at 10 PM, so we could not relax in hot tub before bed. The night manager and security guard were unable to maintain quiet when a noisy group of parties were cursing, running down halls until I had to call the police a 3 AM.

They had a room with two beds for me and my brother.
A little pricey, especially considering the location.

The hotel was OK for what it is, although a tad over-priced. Schenectady is a bit of a ghost town, with nice architecture and a handful of good restaurants overshadowed by abandoned buildings.

King sized bed.
Restaurant service.

It was dirty, dingy, and the smell of the pool was intense.

Friendly staff, decent pool.
Surrounding area seemed unsafe, low ceilings, narrow hallways, dark.

The hotel seemed to be pretty dated. The hallways were narrow, and there was only one elevator in our tower. However the staff was very friendly and courteous.
