Hotel Guest Reviews of the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort Galveston Beach
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 21, 2013

Besides the location and friendly staff at the restaurant, not much positive to say about this hotel. Had my room been in a different location, I would assume my experience would have been different. Luckily the room rate was reasonable having been booked through Priceline, but had I paid full price I would be livid.

The hotel was in a great location. The only disappointing thing was there were o discounts available through Priceline. Everything else was good.

Do not stay if you have small children because there was loud partying until very late. Hotel not worth the price even with the discount I received from bidding.

Wow Galveston is expensive. They charge Maui prices for a substandard experience. It looks like if you want quality accommodations you have to spend closer to
XXX a night.

Our room was clean and everything worked. The view from the balcony was awesome, and that is where we spent most of our time when not out doing the tourist thing. It was even pleasant while raining and we figured we would get wet! Nice hotel for families with small children.

this hotel has balconies but we were not placed even in the same area as other guests. We were on the ground floor by the laundry and storage rooms. It is obvious that this room was specifically for online customers. While the location of the hotel was great for our needs, the room itself was not the same standard that I imagine the other rooms in the hotel were. It was clean, but I would suggest you bring your own pillow as these are huge and hard, very uncomfortable to sleep on. We are still battling with the hotel who have charged our credit card even though we already paid priceline for our accommodations. when I call the hotel they put me on hold and never come back. Even with all of this we had a great time in Galveston. The hotel was clean and in a great location, but if you want a view or balcony you are going to have to pay for it. ...

Upon check in, we were given a room on the second floor above the pool. After visiting the room, we felt it was entirely too loud. To make matters worse, the seal was missing surrounding the balcony door, allowing all pool noise to be clearly heard in the room. After requesting another room, the front desk clerk first stated that we were too young to want a quiet room. We continued to insist on a quieter room, with a properly closed door to help relieve some of the noise, we were moved a few doors down. This room had a cracked window overlooking the pool. Most concerning however, is that we discovered that the outside door to this room did not require a key to open it, it would open by itself, just by pushing on it. After bringing this to the attention of the front desk management, they acted as is this was no big deal, and nonchalantly stated that we would just need to call maintenance. After reading other users reviews, this is obviously not the first instance of this happening, and cannot believe they allow this to happen. We felt unsafe here and had to spend out of pocket to book another reservation at a different hotel just for a sense of security and peace of mind that we were safe. This property should no longer be supported by Priceline. ...

We stayed in room 213. When my husband went to turn on the lamp it exploded and began shooting sparks, then filling the room with an acrid smoke. My husband had to unplug it and rush it out to the hallway. When I went to call the front desk we discovered the phone did not work. Walked down to the front desk and they didn't seem too bothered by the incident. They informed me that they were about to switch management and would have the phone fixed in the next few weeks. Sounds like they aren't spending any money on upkeep. While waiting for a new lamp to be brought up we then discovered the TV reception was awful. it was fuzzy with bold diagonal stripes over the picture. The cleanliness was less than desirable. Moldy wet ceiling above the shower and a huge smear of bloody boogers on the bathroom door left me disgusted! I left a message with the hotel manager to call me back to discuss this issue...still waiting for a return on that call. ...
