Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hotel North Beach
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.April 22, 2013

The hotel has a shared bathroom, which means there is only one bathroom on the entire floor. The rooms are vary basic with 1980's style t.v's and no clocks. I wouldn't stay there again.

This is not a glamorous resort destimation. It's an old, restored hotel right smack in the center of things--a few walkable blocks from the financial district. You often see old Victorian places like this and they are squalid, but North Beach has new owners who have painted every surface, repaired or replaced every splintered bit of paneling, and replaced all fixtures and carpeting with new.
I had work to do, interviews to make, and people to meet. The shower was great, the toilets (at the end of the hall) were new, and there were adequate, accessible power outlets in the room for all my electronic equipment. And a computer desk as well as extra pillows so I could sit and work on the bed in comfort.
My room was quiet because it looked out onto a light well. But the light well is very wide, painted a light color and with plants arranged in it so it's spacious and bright during the day. Rooms overlooking the street might be noisy.
The staff was very helpful. I asked for, and received, a glass made of glass (plastic ones in the room) and extra pillows and towels. WiFi is free and fast. There is a public computer in the lobby for residents to use a half hour at a time. In the heart of one of the world's great cities, I had no desire to watch TV but there is one in the room.
My room was probably smaller than 10x10 and not wheelchair accessible. I am 5'8" with difficulties walking and it was fine for me. It would be close to impossible for someone who is obese or extremely tall
I chose the hotel for its price but would happily stay there again in a visit to SF. ...

The hotel is a rundown 40 year old hotel that has rock hard beds, horrible sheets, rooms are the smallest I have ever stayed in. The community bathrooms stink and are not the cleanest. I have stayed in many hostels before, but this is by far the worst I have ever stayed in. The staff is horrible, when we first arrived at 10pm at night the front desk guy told us he was finishing his daily duties to leave and wasn't going to check us in until the person covering his shift would come in. We had to wait 40 minutes to check in. It is super hot in hotel, no air-conditioning. You can open windows but bugs get in and it still doesn't make it that much cooler.

This hotel mentioned nothing in its listing about having community bathrooms for guests, and none in its rooms. It also didn't seem very above board about its parking, indicating "Parking" on its listing but leaving out the very important words "for $28/day," "in someone else's parking lot," and "a block away." The entire hotel smelled of bad cologne, like you smell on your grandpa. It's only redeeming feature wast that it appeared clean (in general). ...

The hotel was very economical, the location to places, I wanted to go was impeccable and transportation of all forms was accessible just by going down stairs. The scenery was just amazing if you are into that kind of thing. For shared bathrooms they were not bad at all, there were always some available, no matter what time if the day. Overall the service and friendliness was just to die for. Typical small hotel environment. Will definitely head back there. ...

Good location. Some staff were great and some were rude. Under staffed in housekeeping!

We were put in a tiny room overlooking the corner of Kearny and Columbus. We never fell asleep as the early Saturday morning street noise was unbearable. Drunken people talking loudly, shouting, swearing, shooting firecrackers, etc. When we checked out at 2 am, we asked for our money back and were rebuked.
