Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hotel St. Helene
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Absurdly amazing! Well worth the money. Great location in the heart of the French quarter. Excellent knowledgeable staff. Beautifully appointed rooms. Tranquil relaxing pool. We felt we got a true new Orleans experience.

A lovely older style hotel with very friendly staff. We enjoyed the hotel, but we had just 2 complaints. The first one was that we found it very noisy because of the steel staircase and the echo of people walking up and down the stairs particularly in the middle of the night. The second was the comforter on the bed had alto of black hairs on it that were not ours. Perhaps they should take better care of cleaning the room or at least clean the comforters more often. ...

Hotel St. Helene sits on Chartres near Jackson Square, and therefore provides for nice scenery and easy access to the rest of the French Quarter. The "boutique" aspect of the hotel architecture and size gives an overall charm to the whole place. The simply decorated yet stylish black and white rooms make you feel very comfortable. The room was always serviced in the afternoon and always clean. The receptionists at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful, and one woman even remembered my name after check-in. The only downfalls to this hotel were:1. The remodeling work that was going on made for loudness early in the morning and late at night.2. The walls of our room were very thin, and we could hear everyone coming and going at all hours. (I realize most people vacationing in New Orleans stay out very late, but when morning comes, you'd like to sleep a little without disturbance.) ...

Despite an excellent location within the French Quarter and an extremely friendly staff, I would think twice before recommending this hotel, especially for the light sleepers. The acoustics in this hotel are less than good. Just the simple act of another guest walking up the stairs or closing a door seemed to be amplified by 100. Our room was on the second floor and we could still hear every word being said at the front desk. Even with the AC turned on and the bathroom fan running, we could still hear sounds outside our room easily.
