Major renovations have "much improved" this Downtown "standard of old Las Vegas" that's now run by Landry's Restaurants; "large" rooms, some with views of the Spring Mountain range, are "fabulous", the staff is "efficient" and there's a refurbished spa, salon and fitness center, a revamped showroom and a $30-million, three-story pool with a 200,000-gallon shark tank; though "away from the noise of the strip", there's still "plenty to do" from the "fun" Fremont Street to the on-site dining (there's a Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse and the post-Survey addition of Italian restaurant Grotto).

It was easily accessible and in a central location. Everything was in walking distance with resturants and stores.
No coffee in the rooms.

We enjoyed the stay, the room was very roomy and clean. It is is a central location close to dining and shopping and shows.

Classic hotel with all new features.
Nothing

The Nugget is a classic that has had a full remodel. The pool is one of the best for its size in Vegas. The rooms are great, and the hotel does a good job making ever body feel comfortable.

Wonderful beds! Plenty of room.
Beds were not made up, no clean towels - took 2 calls to get clean towels.

Pool hours were short.

Very nice hotel for the price I paid. I didn't like the fact that I was charged my Credit Card.

Comfortable beds, good size room, good location.
Housekeeping missed to clean our room.

I now like downtown because of this hotel. My kids love the pools too. Short distance to other hotels. Love that Starbucks is within the hotel.

Large room space.
Waiter's attitude.

Poor waiter's service, you have to wait for a long time in the front desk. The room is simple but comfortable.

Hotel had great curb/eye appeal. Rooms were large and comfortable. Good choices for dining.
We had reserved two rooms. One was ready on time the other never did get ready so we were put on separate floors.

Cleanliness and convenience.
Sort of a seedy area.

I will go back to GN. They were great and everything I needed was at the hotel. Unfortunately the pool was outside and could not be used.

Self park was very convenient to hotel room wing.
Everywhere except the rooms smelled like smoke, typical of a casino hotel.

The Golden Nugget has made a nice comeback. The downtown area, Fremont Street specifically, has become a nice alternative to the congestion of the Vegas Strip. The Golden Nugget is not your typical casino hotel, in the sense that many of the hotel rooms are isolated from the casino and directly accessible from the self-parking area. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was extraordinarily attentive. There are several nice restaurants with a nice variety. Internet access was very expensive and the business center was inadequate for the normal business traveler. ...read more
