Its location in Vía de la Plata is ideal to visit other cities:La Bañeza (4 km) - a lovely town where you it is possible to enjoy many local festivities as well as admire the beautiful modern buildings in Plaza Mayor, its churches El Salvador and Santa María and the abbeys where the Holy Easter Week is celebrated. Near the city you must visit Jimenez de Jamuz, the only pottery centre left in the region; or visit the unique La Cabrera district where you will find the La Baña and Truchillas lakes.La Maragatería (15-20 km) - capital of Astorga, localities like Luyego and Santa Colomba de Somoza or El Val de San Lorenzo are great places of interest.Camino de Santiago (15 km) - you can walk parts of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage footpath, around 20 km, starting in the city of Astorga, then Murias, Castrillo de los Polvazares, Santa Catalina de Somoza and finish in Rabanal del Camino.Comarca de El Bierzo (80 km by motorway) - green, natural and lush area. Its main attractions are La Médulas (gold mines owned by the Romans), its natural landscape is a world heritage site as well as its main city Ponferrada and the historic Villafranca del Bierzo.
