HACIENDA GUACHIPELIN is a farm dedicated to raising cattle and horses. It is also dedicated to the conservation of the dry tropical forest and to commercial reforestation. Located at the foot of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano-near the town of Curubande-in Guanacaste-Costa Rica. It borders the popular Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Natural hot springs-virgin forests-jungle waterfalls and volcanic mud pots are just some of the many attractions tourists can enjoy during a stay at the Hacienda. For the adventurer-there are many activities in the lodge like horseback riding-the Canyon canopy tour-Rio Negro Tubing Adventure-bird watching-as well as trekking to the active craters of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.There are 50 ROOMS-all with their private bathroom and hot water-from where you can enjoy the volcano and hacienda views and relax with the real sounds of nature. The reception area and the BAR by the SWIMMING POOL are housed in a building more than a century old-part of the original Hacienda. Here you receive your welcome drink-while you sit and relax on the chaise lounges and rocking chairs. The refreshing swimming pool is filled with natural spring waters-coming from the volcano. You can order some snacks and your favorite drinks here at the Bar-and dance with LIVE MARIMBA MUSIC at night. Located near to a really nice national park.
No television, cable or Internet.
The road to this hotel is extremely bad, it took us about 1 1/2hr to drive 17km. Do not drive at night, it is very difficult to see the giant rocks on the road. Get a 4x4 vehicle if you can. Do not expect to be watching television, talking on the phone, or surfing the Internet. There isn't even a phone in your room to call the front desk for help. You wouldn't need it because there is no one at the front desk to call after hours. Now the good stuff. The national park located next to the hotel was great. Horseback riding, hiking, canopy tour, and rafting was offered. ...read more
