With "dramatic views" of the Rhode Island State House, this "excellent hotel" is "beautifully appointed" and within walking distance to Downtown Providence; guests praise "incredible service", such as a complimentary "bottle of wine and birthday cake", and they feel "pampered" in "newly appointed, comfortable" rooms; built in 1929 as a Masonic temple, the "historic" building lacks a pool, but reviewers still find it "just amazing", with a "surprisingly good" restaurant and lounge.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the lobby and restaurant.
I wished the decor of rooms was a little nicer, and that bathroom was a little bigger.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
No vent in the bathroom.

I have stayed in many hotels in Providence, but this was a first for the Renaissance. I was very impressed with the lobby and then the size of the room was much better than normal. I will definitely try to stay here again. ...read more

The hotel has kept it's history visually intact. It's beautiful and interesting.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel. As it's close to Christmas time, it was tastefully decorated for the season and was very welcoming. The rooms were just lovely, the bathrooms striking and it was perfectly clean. I found the staff to be helpful without being ingratiating. The bathroom was stocked with Aveda products which made me very happy! But the best thing was the building's history, from a false start as a masonic lodge through 70 years of being used as a haven for graffiti and to it's current hotel status. It has kept pieces of the graffiti intact in certain areas. ...read more

It is a beautiful building with a great location. The rooms are very nice.
Parking is less than ideal, and internet is not free.

This is a very nice hotel located in the old Masonic temple just a few steps from the state capitol. The rooms are new and nicely styled. The bathroom is also very up-to-date. Some requests to the front desk were completely ignored. ...read more
