Welcome to the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel

Situated on historical grounds/ adjacent to where Hawaiis King Kamehameha established his royal residence/ the 460-room King Kamehamehas Kona Beach Hotel neighbors this historical landmark. In the 19th Century/ King Kamehamehas residence included all of Kamaka/ the bay around which the hotel is focused. This oceanfront hotel offers convenient access to one of the Big Islands most popular Hawaiian lu au and shows?the Island Breeze Hawaiian Lu au/ where guests can enjoy an evening of feasting and dancing. To commence the festivities/ outrigger canoes bearing the royal court glide past the ancient Hawaiian temple on the shoreline of King Kamehamehas Kona Beach Hotel. In addition to the traditional lu au/ King Kamehamehas Kona Beach Hotel provides other savory meal choices that everyone is sure to enjoy. Local newspaper/ The Honolulu Advertiser/ recognized The Kona Beach Restaurant as the -Favorite Hotel Restaurant?Neighbor Island- in 2000/ 2001 and 2004. This restaurant provides guests with a casual-dining experience and unbeatable views. A more relaxed option is the Billfish Bar conveniently near the pool. The Billfish Bar is a perfect place to enjoy a refreshing tropical drink and an island-native appetizer. Sunsets at the Billfish Bar are memorable and enhanced sublimely by the melodies of Hawaiian musicians. During the day guests can enjoy the view of Kamakahonu Bay while sunning by the pool and Whirlpool spa. And to get a break from the outdoors/ the Hawaiian Cultural Activity Center is the perfect option. Called Kulana Huli Honua/ which translates into -foundation for the search of wisdom-/ the cultural center inside the hotel offers lei-making and hula lessons and Hawaiian history classes. ...read more

The staff is friendly and helpful.
Old property in need of upgrading.

Hotel is in early stages of a renovation that will continue to end of 2009. Both public and private areas continue to be well maintained - though are obviously old and in need of refurbishing. The ocean front location in Kailua - Kona still makes this a good stop for the price. ...read more

Staff was friendly.
Didn't like anything but the staff.

This hotel was rundown and the rooms were dirty. I didn't feel comfortable in any way. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. I remember when this hotel was one of the best. It is now one of the worst. ...read more

The hotel staff was very helpful, the location was wonderful.
Some of the towers need renovation.

Fantastic views, large corner rooms. Restaurant & bar overlooks tidal ponds. Corner room balcony was huge with lounge chairs. Walk to great restaurants & downtown Alii drive.

Close to shopping malls.
Everything.

Truly the building needs to be condemned. It had an odor of mold, bathrooms were dirty with hair in the corners, floors were soiled, and the walls had mold growing down them. We couldn't even spend the night there and paid to fly home at 10:30 pm out of pocket because it was so gross. ...read more
