Back in the '40s, "Bugsy Siegel started it all here" at what's now an "old Strip standard", still known for the "flamingos, penguins and fish ponds" dotting the grounds; while it's a "classic" with history, it's only recent renovations that elevate this beyond what some describe as a "60s-era third-world hostel", so make sure you get one of the redone rooms with liberal splashes of pink, cuttinge-edge baths and 42-inch, flat-panel TVs, then head to the new topless pool (ladies get in free, men pay a cover charge).

Terrific rooms and bathroom.

I would certainly go back to this hotel if I reserved a Go room again. They are very nice. The hotel is also very centrally located. We will definitely be back.

They upgraded our room.
The wait at the check in desk.

This hotel is dated but cheap. Beware of the check in line! It took us an hour.

Its location on the Las Vegas Strip and its historical value.
The room was old, run down, did not include internet for free.

This hotel does indeed have 3+ star rooms, however the rooms given to customers are their standard rooms. These rooms are old, run down, and do not include amenities such as coffee maker, iron, blow dryer, or decent TV. ...read more

If you drive south for 3 miles on Las Vegas Blvd, you can find Whole Foods. You can be tired of entire buffet, and then salad bar is so helpful.

Affordable upgrade rates, and friendly staff.
Could not accommodate people who are gluten free.

Overall, the hotel was amazing: Great staff, affordable upgrade rates, prime location. The only complaint I have was in regards to my fiance, who is gluten free and therefore cannot eat or drink anything with wheat, barely, or rye. Upon our arrival we contacted the beer manager to inquire about Redbridge, a gluten free beer that is quite rare since it does not contain wheat, barely or rye. The beer manager assured us that he would have it delivered to the Sin City Bar (in our hotel) by noon the next day. But when we checked on it the following day it had not arrived. We made several inquiries throughout our 5 night, 6 day stay about the gluten free beer and nobody was able to help us out, even after they said that they would contact us. We originally chose the Flamingo hotel because staff reported that they can get gluten free beer upon request. But since they were not able to get it to us, or even contact us about it, we will never stay there again. About 30% of American are gluten free, our determining factor in staying at a hotel for our vacation hinges on whether or not staff are responsive to the needs of gluten free folks. Unfortunately the Flamingo is not responsive to such needs and we will not recommend it to those who needs special gluten free accommodations. ...read more
