Howard Johnson Inn Yankee Stadium

Came for a Yankees game, very good location close to stadium. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Had a problem with door to room after game, three staff members worked hard to make us comfortable while they repaired the problem. Very impressed with service and plan to come back next year. I was perfect for what I wanted. Something close to the game. I would have just taken the train in and out of the city the same day but it was a niter game and could not get a train back to Lancaster after the game. If traveling to Yankee Stadium stay here! There was some sort of cloying air freshener that was overpowering. I didn't think it was all that bad at first, until I closed the open windows. Then the air freshener attacked. I had to take the blanket off the bed because it was decayed. The desk computer chair was nice, but the armchair looked like it hadn't been cleaned since 1975. The shower curtain leaked and flooded the bathroom floor; I used the wall hair dryer in the hall because I was scared I'd be electrocuted. The wireless internet signal crapped out around 10 pm. I thought that the hotel room was very nice and also clean, but the location for guests is not very central to downtown Manhattan. It is great if you are only going to a ball game, game at Yankee Stadium and shopping in the stores by Yankee Stadium. It is convenient to Yankee Stadium. Staff are friendly. Continental breakfast quite adequate.

The hotel was nice, but the front desk staff was not always the friendliest. We had to walk through a bad neighborhood in the Bronx to catch a bus to the subway station. There are no taxi's around the hotel and is very inconvenient and time consuming get from the hotel into NY city. The hotel needs a shuttle service to and from Yankee stadium for guests since the nearest subway stop is at Yankee stadium. The hotel needs to let guests know there is no easily accessible public transportation to and from Yankee stadium. ...read more
