Stratton Mountain Resort

We arrived at the place at 8PM and since there was no one there to check us in, my small child and I had to travel down an icy road to go check in. The map that the staff gave us to find our room was inaccurate and the two story lodge had no elevator. We had to travel up outdoor steps - their were no indoor steps -- filled with ice and a little bit of blue colored salt, onto a grated floor and then through a dark hallway, with skis and luggage. The door was scratched up and the key barely worked. The place had a mildewed smell. Except for the T.V., all the furniture was chipped or broken. The walls and floor were filthy. There were rusted pipes and loose lamps hanging from the ceiling. The beds were old and it felt more like you were sleeping on a park bench. We slept on top of the beds, instead of between the sheets, for fear of getting bed bugs. The toilet barely worked and the plunger was in poor condition. We showered with flip flops. Probably could have done better for the price. Hotel reminded me of a cheap hotel I stayed at in the 70s and the room was clean but very outdated.

The staff was very nice.

Got absolutely no sleep-could feel mattress springs right in your back. Loud, obnoxious neighbors - construction workers brought to help expand local hotels were also staying at the here. They took over the pool and other amenities, swearing and screaming, keeping us away. The hotel staff did not utter a word to stop them. ...read more
