In an "easy-to-get-to" location "near Rice University" and the freeway, this curvy mid-rise gathers praise for its "friendly and helpful" staff and "comfortable beds"; less appealing are the "worn" facilities, "slow elevators", just "so-so" rooms with "old bathtubs and tile", and poor sound insulation (the "front of the hotel is noisy because it faces a large road"); N.B. an Au Bon Pain anchors the lobby.

Hotel was close to where I needed to be.

Convenient to downtown area of Houston; relatively clean although undergoing renovation. Parking lot is awkward to enter and pavement needs some work, perhaps the renovation will cover it. An average place to stay just off of interstate - noisy in parking lot - rooms were soundproof from interstate; we did have a group of party folks across the hall from us which were somewhat disturbing but it lasted just a couple of hours. ...read more

The fact that we were not allowed to have our dog stay with us, & one of our pillow cases had lipstick kiss in printed on it.

The bed was awesome.
The halls were dated.

I stay at this hotel whenever possible. The price is amazing for what you get. When we went a few weeks ago, there was a really nice lounge and but bar they were renovating when we just went a few days ago. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. The halls were dated and the elevator was a little sluggish but the bedroom makes up for anything unpleasant. The bed us awesome. The room is well worth the money. ...read more

Historic yet modern accents!

The hotel was a historic building and the room reflected the charm of old times yet the bath was updated to give the customer the luxury of modern spa elegance.

Overall a decent place to stay, but nothing too special.
No free breakfast.

Decent location, nice lobby, decent rooms, but no breakfast offered. If you want a bagel and and orange juice get ready to spend $7.

The location, it was conveniently located right off the expressway, close to every event we attended.

I will never recommend this hotel to anyone I care about. My experience there was extremely unpleasant.

It was good for the money.
There were food crumbs on the floor in the room from a prior guest.

The location is convenient, but not attractive, so if you want romantic, this isn't it. The inside of the hotel is fairly generic, but functional. Amenities are average. The room seemed clean except for some breakfast cereal spilled on the floor by a prior guest that did no get vacuumed up. That was a bit discouraging, as it didn't tell me much about the cleanliness of the remainder of the room. Service was fair, but not over the top courteous. The desk clerk seemed fairly indifferent and was dressed inappropriately for a hotel desk. She had on a camo T-shirt and jeans. I thought a 3-star should have someone in a button-down with a tie, at a bare minimum. I also expected a bit more attention from the desk staff. ...read more
