It was clean and the staff friendly and cooperative.
Hotel undergoing renovations, therefore noisy at times.

Convenient and clean property. When renovations are completed this will be a gem on Hilo Bay. The staff is courteous and willing to help make your stay enjoyable

Room itself was clean.
The ground were rundown and the place looked abandoned.

The hotel has obviously seen better. The spa was boarded up and closed. The restaurants that used to be there are closed, which is a shame. The walkways around the hotel lack safety railings and the abandoned swimming pool in the parking lot is unlocked and filled with water, algae and garbage. This hotel's grounds in unsafe for children as well as some adults. Do not let your children roam alone. There are numerous spot on the grounds for children to fall in and drowned between the tide pools and abandoned swimming pool. Do yourself a favor and stay at a hotel/resort on the west side and drive over to see the site during the day. The meth heads screaming their heads off in the parking lot until 4:30 in the morning told me how little the hotel cared about the guests safety or tourism. Please heed my warning and stay a newer resort in Waikaloa or Kona. ...read more

The room was updated and nicely decorated.
Hotel is undergoing major restoration which takes away from niceness.

Not much.
The attempt at a renovation was poor, in workmanship and design.

If you just need a place to sleep it's OK.

It was under construction and looked abandoned. They should have fixed it up more before opening it to the public! Parking lot was unsafe!

Big screen LCD and
clean.
Roll away bed charged $25 a night extra. Neighboring hotels didn't charge for same!

Rooms were newly redone with clean tile, dry and no musty smells or mildew.
I do not like physical keys but prefer room cards.

I have stayed at the Hilo Hawaiian and the Naniloa, and greatly preferred the latter.

The room renovations were really nice.
The exterior of the hotel needs to be renovated and updated also - the bar and restaurant were not open.

The newly renovated rooms were really nice. The bathrooms were gorgeous and the beds were comfortable. The views were amazing. I was a little disappointed about not having a bar or restaurant. Besides that I would stay again. ...read more

Newly reconstructed rooms. New furniture.
Construction noise. Outside hotel appearance could use work.

Ocean view was great. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Price was awesome for the view and room we got. When they finish construction on the place, it'll be a great place to stay and I'd go back.
