Ten blocks from K.U. and two miles from Downtown, this Atomic Age hotel with "plenty" of free parking is "showing its age" both inside and out; kids "love" the "decent" miniature golf course and "huge" pool, but its location in the "open lobby area" (part of the "dated" Holidome design) means sometimes the first floor "smells like chlorine"; more contemporary are the "spacious" rooms, which have "comfortable beds" with lots of pillows.

Staff was helpful and the rooms were clean.

Restaurant closed early Christmas Eve morning.

I stayed during a winter storm that closed down most of the town. They cleared their parking lot very quickly. The rooms were fresh and the staff did a good job.

I travel to Lawrence, Kansas several times a year and this is the only place I will stay. The rooms are clean and staff is very friendly. Hotel is very comfortable.

They had a put-put that the kids liked.

The pool was ice cold & WiFi didn't work.

My kids live for the pool. They insist the water temperature is between 82-84 F. But it is actually between 60-65. Even my kids found it cold. Their lips were blue in 15 minutes. The hotel staff insisted the water was warm and refused to turn up the heat. We were stuck there for 2 days. Thank goodness there was other things to do around town. I finally got the WiFi working, but it was so slow it was unusable. ...read more
