Nice hotel, Marriott standard. We booked a 5 star hotel and this is in no way a 5 star hotel! Everywhere else it is shown as a 4 star. Clean hotel, beds are comfortable, staff is friendly. Parking was an extra 30 Euro. One 2 minute phone call to the US was an extra 9 Euro. Room service prices are too high as well. Overall a nice hotel which we would stay in again, but again prices are a little steep and I do not think this was a 5 star hotel! ...read more

The Marriott has a superior location in the Leidesplein district of Amsterdam. The rooms are updated and have a spa type feel. There is built-in security feature in the elevators that will not allow a person access to the floors without a room key. The staff was helpful and extremely polite. There were ample towels, toiletries in the very modern bathroom. If this hotel were located elsewhere, closer to Central Station, Rembrandtsplain or even near Amstel station, it would be ideal. Some people like the proximity to Leidseplein but that loud, young trashy scene gets old very quickly and you feel like recovering back to the comfort of the hotel. It has an excellent lounge (restricted access), the best fitness room of any hotel in Amsterdam, and good service, but the location makes you want to be somewhere else. ...read more

Overall, great hotel. Though the breakfast was good, it was not worth 25 Euro. Save yourself some money and hit up a local cafe.
