Incorporating the original 1917 Statler Hotel, this "truly grand" Downtown "conference" spot is distinguished by "exceptional service" and a "great location across from the convention center" near "the thriving nightlife of Washington Avenue"; "surprisingly good dining" (at An American Place and the Mediterranean-style Capri) make it ideal for a "weekend visit", "business trip" or special occasion, but a few finicky foes say it's just "average, average, average."

Beautiful lobby and convenient city spot.
The TV needs upgrading and needs mini fridge.

Beautiful and close to highlights of St. Louis - the room was tactfully decorated and the bathroom was spacious. Overall, very impressed - however, the TV would need to upgraded and there should be a mini fridge - it seemed odd that this hotel wouldn't offer those conveniences that not so fancy hotels have. ...read more

Central location close to downtown.
Traffic around the hotel was not friendly for driving.

The most comfortable bed I ever slept in. The staff was all friendly and professional. Overall was a very pleasant experience.

I loved the suites.
Service in restaurant was slow.

Our heat did not work in the room, so first they sent someone to fix it which wasn't fixed, then they sent us to another room. It was kind of a pain because of the other things we were trying to get accomplished before dinner. Their first option should have been to move us instead of sending someone to try and fix and then wait for them to get there and then they say "if it's not warm in here in a couple of hours let me know". But the suite was very nice, also a great view from the suites. ...read more

The location was wonderful and the atmosphere was pleasant.
The only complaint is that the mattress sagged and was uncomfortable.

The first thing you notice is the beautiful lobby. The staff is friendly and helpful. Being an older hotel, the rooms are a little small but the ceilings are tall and give the room an open feeling. We truly enjoyed our stay. ...read more

Good location.
Very small room.

Good location, only staying one night and then headed out to the arch in St. Louis. The room was TINY, not good for a family of four with small children, much less with our son who is bigger than me.

Loved the room and amenities available.
Price of dining vs. quality wasn't an equal match. We would have proffered to use the money to dine elsewhere.

Very good quality room, and excellent service. The hotel staff was friendly and the room was in excellent condition. The dining and atmosphere in the hotel was good, but not at a level to match the price. We would have preferred to use the money to dine elsewhere. ...read more
