"Right in the middle of everything", "across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station", this hotel offers up "spacious" rooms with kitchenettes "for heating up leftovers", "three pillow options" and "Aveda bath products" in its, admittedly "too small", bathrooms; there's a "security guard at the entrance after 10 PM" and the "staff is extremely pleasant", but it's "not luxurious" by any means.

Room looked like it was from the 1950's. Certainly not a 3.5 star
and that was after an upgrade.

The concierge desk clerk was very helpful!
The hallways appeared dated and a bit dirty.

My teenage daughter and I stayed at the Affinia for our first trip to NYC. We had a corner room with a perfect view of Madison Square Garden. The hotel was centrally located, so we could get to anything we wanted to see by either walking or subway. The concierge desk clerk was extremely helpful to us in searching for restaurants, shopping and subways. All of her recommendations were spot on! We would stay at this hotel again. ...read more

I needed a room with 2 double beds. They would not give me one unless I payed $40 more a night.

They should not show pictures of rooms with double beds, then not let you have one.

Extremely small room, extremely drafty window counteracted by extreme heating system, bed sheets so starchy they made noise when you moved in bed.

Good location, beautiful lobby, incredibly small rooms with drafty windows, stiff sheets, no coffee maker in room, noise from service elevator bothersome. Friendly, courteous front desk help unable to switch our room due to holiday volume. ...read more

Very comfortable bed.
Cleanliness of room, TV static, fire station next door, not able to adjust temperature and it was very hot in the room.

The lobby and public areas were spacious, nice and clean. The room was not as clean and needed some updating. The tub surface was peeling in places, the towels smelled bad and the dish cloth in the kitchen was sticky and stained. The bed was awesome and we slept great. It was also great to have access to a fridge for our snacks and beverages. The radiator heat worked almost too well and we had to keep the window open to keep the room from getting too hot. ...read more

Tiny bathroom. Problems with room temp (heating/cooling).
