Gaia Napa Valley- located east of Highway 29 in American Canyon- California- is a green hotel project developed by Wen-I Chang. Gaia is named in reference to the Mother Earth figure in Greek mythology. This term is widely used by new age ecologists as metaphor of organic earth. Originally designed by famed architect Mickey Muennig- the Gaia hotel is envisioned as a ultra-green hotel. Wen-I will use cutting-edge- environmentally friendly technology in both its construction and daily operations- such as solar power- water-saving techniques and certified wood harvested with the long-term health of forests in mind- the lagoon with an ecosystem of its own- etc. Gaia will also have aesthetic and philosophic components. Yuan Lee- one of the worlds most famous muralists- has been commissioned. To create a mural reflecting the American Canyon spirit of the local wetlands and vineyards.
