When I first walked into the lobby, I was excited and impressed. It was beautiful and open. The hotel also had the cute theme of traveling imbedded throughout (lobby, rooms, gift shop, and cafe). We were instructed to park, but the parking lot was in desperate need of repaving. We found the door to get into the building, but there were no maps and the set-up was very confusing; almost like a labyrinth. The halls also smelled strange and were tiny, much smaller than an average hotel and definitely not like any 4-stars I've stayed in (I've never stayed in a 3.5 star perhaps they're all like this?). We found our room after some difficulty, only to find out one key didn't work at all and the other had to be inserted just right. We had to do it twice because the signal was so weak. But we got into the room which, unfortunately, smelled worse than the halls. The smell lessened as you walked past the bathroom and into the actual room. Here, the room was beautiful. Although it cried out for a fresh coat of paint (or new wallpaper) and some new molding, the room was pleasant to look at. Unfortunately, the bed was a rock to sleep on. I tossed and turned all night. After coming from a Marriot the night before, this was an unwelcome situation. The bathroom was a different story. It was old, smelled, and in the morning we were greeted by a large cricket (I though it was a grasshopper my husband informed me otherwise). We peaked at the room service menu which looked appetizing, but our late arrival and early departure made ordering anything not worthwhile. Checkout was very easy, and all the staff we encountered was very friendly. I think that about covers it.

Nice hotel, good rooms. Close to Van Nuys airport, but noise was not a problem.

Staff friendly. Parking in front gated area w guard, and plenty of gated parking in rear of hotel-no guard-(but be careful of sink hole when exiting lot). Lot backs up to private airport runway and you can watch planes taking off. Room decor very pleasant and bedroom area quite large.
