The rooms were clean and the staff was especially nice.

My expectation for a Howard Johnson hotel was much higher than what this hotel turned out to be. I was very disappointed from the moment I got into the parking lot; my first impression was that the grounds were not kept up very well. The pool was tiny, and not well maintained. It was just inside a wood fence that was in need of repair. When we used the pool, the gate was open, not even locked. Any person could come in and use the pool. The only emergency equipment there was a buoyant ring, that was already in the water. The restaurant where breakfast was served was small. It was not big enough for a crowd of guests to be in there at the same time. The room was shabby and very outdated. The pillows were obviously old, as was the mattress and bedding. The bed was very low to the ground. There was only one switch in the bathroom that worked both the light and the fan at the same time; so you couldn't have the light on without the fan also being on. The fan was excessively loud. I did not feel completely safe. The outside doors to the room hallways were unlocked during the day. I feel that all hotel outside doors, (except the lobby), should be locked and require a room key at all times. This hotel did not meet my expectations, especially for a Howard Johnson brand property.

I thought it was too expensive for the room. Stayed at another hotel and it was $30 less bigger room.

Ideal for the interstate traveler, breakfast included in price nice for an older hotel, friendly staff. Only downside is older and with an overwhelming chemical smell in the King sized non smoking room we stayed in.
