Hotel Guest Reviews of the Howard Johnson Hotel - Newark

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

location is that bad you have access to all the freeways. They have a restaurant inside the hotel, it's pretty good.
didn't know there was a $15 charge per night for parking. they should of mention it before. also we had loud neighbors, but we called the front desk and they clam down.

overall, it was a good experience. just didnt like paying for parking.

My laptop was stolen from room with the bag that also had my ID card and apt keys. And hotel staff were not very helpful with that. They did not provide any help and just passed on the buck stating nothing found on CCTV.
The staff or manager were bluffing me when I complained about the theft. They were not even apologetic, and not bother to call me instead of repeated reminder to give me some update on my case. Every time has to chase them and they try to avoid me.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location to the airport.
There is plenty that we didn't like. There is a hidden fee that the concierge argued about. When searching for the hotel this is listed as the cheapest and no mention of the $15 parking fee is listed anywhere. When you get there you are informed that you

HAVE to pay it or get your car towed. We pointed out that the fee was not mentioned and he argued that it was and pointed a the nearby computer to have us look it up. My husband brought it up on his phone and the clerk stated that this was not a computer nor was it a website. I have no comment for that other than rolling my eyes. Our non-smoking room reeked of smoke as well. We will most certainly not ever stay there again. And we will be hesitant to use Priceline as well if they do not properly list all included fees. ...read more

I did not like the fact that I had already paid for the room and had to pay separately for parking. That didn't seem fair. If the room is already paid for a parking spot should come with that. If I would have known that at first I would not have stayed

Hated every minute
You said it had a restaurant , it was a sandwitch shop that was closed when I arrived had to take a cab to another hotel. In the morning I was a half an hour early for the shuttle. There were so many people waiting I couldn't get on. Almost missed my flig

Don't ever stay here. The staff is rude. They tried to charge my card for my room. The argument was intense.
