Hotel Guest Reviews of the Howard Johnson Inn - San Diego
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 6, 2013

I have pics of the room condition that I would love to share with Priceline. I have used Priceline many times and this is the only case where I feel duped. I was overcharged for the type of room I got. the condition of the room would probably qualify it for 1 of those rooms that are rented by the hour. I think I will be posting these pics on Yelp and facebook. The curtain were torn. The carpet was filthy. I took a shower and while walking across the carpet for 5 minutes while getting dressed, the bottoms of my feet were completely black. If the housekeeping staff see a black washcloth, that is what it is from. THere was what appeared to be a vomit stain on the carpet by the bed. There were 4" square holes in the wall. The electrical cord for the air conditioner was precariously draped over the vanity light fixture and then plugged in the sinkside outlet that should be used for a hair dryer. The paint was peeling off the door. When I checked in, I asked the man at the front desk for an iron and ironing board. He politely said that he would bring it to the room, which he did in about 10 minutes. I picked up the remote to the tv and hit the power button. It did not come on. I looked behind the dresser and it was unplugged..No problem. Then I tried changing channels and I was getting no response from the tv. The remote was not wirking. When Romy came to the room with the iron and board, I mentioned it to him. He tried it. Again it did not work. He went and got another remote, again it did not work, then he went to get programming codes. he returned and got the right code and made the remote work. He was so diligent in trying to fix the tv and bring us the iron that I did not have the heart to complain about the room. Romy is a diamond in a VERY rough rough. He is overworked and underpaid I am sure. The hotel is a disgrace to the name of Howard Johnson. The place should not be renting rooms until the renovation is complete. ...

The rooms were under new management and they were performing a lot of new much needed maintenance. The rooms were very dirty. The air conditioner unit was very dusty and when turned on had foul smelling air for several minutes. The comfort er on the need had holed, cigarette burns and was sticky. The bathroom had hair in the shower and on the floor andthe toilet was detached from floor. Our family stayed in another room with similar problems. Hopefully after the renovations the rooms will be better but I doubt we will chance stating again. ...
