Hotel Guest Reviews of the Howard Johnson Inn - San Diego Sea World
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. It was a good choice for a clean, lower priced hotel. There were not alot of on site amenities but anything we needed was nearby and we didn't expect much more. The temperature control did not work properly in our room but the weather was moderate so we were still comfortable. The front desk staff tried their best to be helpful. The breakfast selection was fair; bagels would be nice. It took a very long time when waiting for more coffee to be made but then again it was all free. We ate at the Mexican restaurant next door and it was pretty good. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay. We stayed for one night prior to boarding a cruise and it worked out fine for our needs. We used the shuttle service but found we had to pay $10 to take us to our cruise check in. The van driver was not friendly or helpful at all. ...

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a quick stay in San Diego as the distance to the airport is short and the shuttle offered by the hotel is convenient.

When we went to check in, the manager was extremely friendly and joked around with us. He asked us if we preferred to stay on the top floor or bottom floor. My boyfriend and I said bottom, but the manager recommended the top since it could get noisy. We were happy with his recommendation. In our room the iron was missing and they brought one up within 2 minutes. Our room was clean and I was happy that there was a mini fridge/microwave. Our overall stay was great; however, we were told that checkout was at 12 so we decided to sleep until 11:30am and the housekeeper knocked even though our "do not disturb" sign was on. When we didn't respond she opened the door on her own. That was the only thing I could complain about. Other than this everything was great. ...

No frills room, but the room was clean with all basics you need for a comfortable night. Microwave, fridge, hair dryer, a good sized closet, etc. It's not walking distance to anything cool, but Seaword in short drive away. Service was friendly, and some complimentary basic breakfast items were available in the morning.

The room was just as described, spacious and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the location. Close to stores, gas stations, airport and major highways. The Mexican restaurant adjoining the inn was delicious; definitely worth a try. Enjoyed our stay.
