Howard Johnson Inn Suites Hobby Airport

The owner of the hotel excuses his prices by citing operating costs. Sorry, but this cannot be an excuse for for failing to meet advertised incitements to choose hotel. If cost have forced a change in what can be offered, change the advertisement - this would apply to the filthy pool which was explained as closed due to a drawn-out problem having to do with drainage, recent rains, & interfacing with county in repairs. Eliminate the promise of pool, and screen the unsightly mess (looks like a sewage dump) from visitors. Stop promising free shuttle, pay for airport shuttle delivery, or pay for cab. Can't comment on continental breakfast offerings - had to leave before anything but coffee and juice were available. Provide a decent "business" center: a computer with faster connection time, and a printer that produces a clean page. I was afraid my boarding pass printout might not be readable by the scanner at the airport. I was lucky. I will not return to this hotel, nor will I consider Howard Johnson Hotels in the future. Hotel was clearly badly maintained before the new owners took over, and effort toward a good end is evident. But HJ owes much better support to its franchisees, or whatever term is appropriate to those who buy a piece of the chain. Until I read a business report of improvement in HJ upper management, my business goes elsewhere. Needs bettered signage, free breakfast etc.

Its ok there its just the pet that you have to pay for extra and I was discouraged by that!

If using GPS, the entrance is a creepy abandoned looking little road. Don't panic, the hotel isn't bad at all. We met a few other guests and they were laughing about it as well.

The two female night employees were very helpful and considerate. Late night arrival, all restaurants closed, but they tied to drive me to find food. When I called about my shirt, the gentleman answered, was again curt and although
I reminded him that he had taken me back to the airport in the morning and my room number, he did very little to try and help me find my shirt. Very disappointed about the shirt although it was my fault,
I realize, for leaving it there. Employees were all related, but only the male was rude and curt. I would appreciate a response from someone. ...read more
