Hotel Guest Reviews of the Howard Johnson Manhattan Soho

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The STAFF at the hotel were absolutely MARVELOUS and made this stay fantastic! In particular, the manager Teddy and handsome leading man, Anthony took such wonderful care of me and my daughter. They treated us like family, arranged rides & kept us safe.
No.

This new, boutique hotel was absolutely immaculate, modern, and well designed. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and abundant with bagels, muffins, fruit, eggs, cereal, yogurt, milk, coffee, and tea. There were two taxi services available through the hotel, cash OR credit, and the staff arranged the calls, pick-up's and even returns back from the theatre. Although set in Chinatown, you could certainly walk to SoHo, Greenwich Village, Little Italy and NYU in nicer weather. You definitely need to take a cab to the theatre district.Again, it was the helpful, kind, caring professional staff who ensured our every need was met. They were also quite knowledgeable when we had any questions about NYC and never hesitated to use their many resources to meet our needs. There's also a computer/printer in the lobby and many restaurants in the area. Although I always have some concerns travelling alone with a child, all of my trepidations dissipated once Teddy or Anthony helped us through any matters requiring such calm, knowledgeable, caring professionals! ...read more

Staff was amazing, friendly & helpful.
Nothing

5 or 10 mins from subway. Area seemed safe. Room we had (1 king) was perfect for 1 or 2 people, for a family it might be too small. Nothing like the typical Howard Johnson, rooms were similar to higher end hotel

This SohoHoJo could have just provided a good basic room for less than others, but it goes beyond by offering style. Not elegance, but, um, sophisticated whimsy, in the public space. And an unusually large bathroom with big windows.
The only challenge with this hotel is that because it's skinny, it's easy to miss it! Watch for the orange letters; they're a bright spot in a neighborhood that's strangely dark for NYC.

We were on a whirlwind less-than-24-hours "can't use these Broadway tickets, can you?" visit. We live just far enough from NYC that we needed to stay over but weren't going to luxuriate. This place was perfect, clean, cute, less expensive because it's off the beaten track. Taxi in, enjoy a good night's sleep, shower in a clean bathroom, taxi back to Penn Station. I'd do it again! ...read more

The price was good.
The room size was very small. Was told we couldn't call a cab to come pick us up. However, we find one on our own about 1-3 blocks away.

It was a decent price for the Saturday before Christmas. The staff was very friendly and gave us a bottle of wine our anniversary. The location seemed a little sketchy but we didn't encounter any problems. Hotel was located about 4-5 blocks from the subway station that goes Uptown.
