Hotel Guest Reviews of the JW Marriott Essex House New York
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.April 2, 2013

Very well located hotel - right opposite Central Park South and within walking distance of Times Square. Far enough away from the TS crowds & noise. There are plenty of good restaurants/bars and shopping nearby. Onsite meals very expensive. Should you be a light-sleeper ask for a room high up in the building - the street noise is significant. Whenever the lift/room access card was placed next to a mobile phone - it stopped working. This hotel was booked via Priceline bidding at a good discount. When Hurricane Sandy unexpectedly hit New York - we had to fork out a totally insane price to stay the extra 3 days before flights out could be arranged. Concierge desk offered very good advice/directions regarding restaurants and shopping. We were satisfied with this hotel and would recommend it to friends. ...

Family Traveling with Teens
The hotel has a great location - across from Central Park and only a few blocks from Times Square and 5th Avenue. Columbus Circle is just up the street and makes subway access convenient. We stayed for New Year's Eve and walked up to 7th Avenue, which provided a straight view of Times Square, so we didn't have to stand for hours in the cold among crowds of people. Our experience was very positive! ...

The hotel was wonderful. The location could not have been better for our trip. The staff was outstanding and obviously did whatever they could to ensure a great experience for all guests. We had the smallest room, but it was like staying in a little jewelry box. It was comfortable and quiet, pretty, and had a nice bathroom.

This hotel is in an amazing location, across the street from Central Park. 2 blocks from 5th ave shopping. Close to Broadway and Times Square. Back exit leads right to subway. Doorman will hail you a cab If you prefer. Very upscale. I was worried about old/ musty smells due to age of the building- but it was refurbished and great. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the valet parking, concierge, turn down service, bell service- just a few dollars tip will really add to your experience. Tip at check in an ask for an upgraded room. I had the junior king suite, and it was very spacious - I can't speak to the smaller rooms size. I felt
so safe here, there are security guards at all entrances in addition to door men. ...
