Hotel Guest Reviews of the La Quinta Inn & Suites Clifton

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It was fairly clean and suited our needs, but there was nothing outstanding about it.
The breakfast was very minimal.

This hotel is fine if you just need a place to sleep and won't be there most of the time. There's really nothing outstanding about it, but it is clean and as to be expected for a two star hotel. The staff was friendly, and it is very convenient to New York City.

I liked that Red Robin was connected to it, so I didn't have to go far to get something to eat, if I didn't want carry out.
The distance from the Izod Center. I thought I was going to have to break the bank to take a taxi, which I almost did at times. After finding out where the Delawanna station was, it saved me some money!

I came to New Jersey for WrestleMania 29, and even though the hotel was advertised as not being too far from the Meadowlands Sports Complex, it still seemed like quite a distance. Maybe it was just the cabs. I didn't find out until almost too late that the Delawanna Station was near the hotel, so it did save me some cab fare! It's not that bad of a walk to and from the hotel. My room was really nice. I read that it didn't have a refrigerator/microwave but was relieved that I had them when I checked in. I also met several people who were staying there for WrestleMania, so it was a little more convenient to make transportation arrangements to the venues. The staff was extremely nice and willing to help us with directions and even gave us menus to restaurants who delivered meals! I did see a few shopping centers before the hotel, but as I mentioned before, I didn't want to spend too much on the cab. The breakfast was okay; a decent selection of food. The fitness center could at least have some weights or other various kinds of exercise equipment. It just didn't seem like a fitness center with only exercise bikes and treadmills. Other than that, had a great time, and I would stay there again! ...read more

Friendly staff, Red Robin attached, walking distance to Target.
Route 3 is a pain. Heavy traffic and horrible road conditions.

The beds were clean and .comfortable
They ran out of breakfast food and did not refill, 40min before the breakfast was supposed to end! There was a huge water leak in our room in the middle of the night. No one came to the room or apologized even when I called&went to the desk.

This hotel was not in a "good" area of New Jersey. I would not recommend children staying here. The food looked good for the free breakfast but they ran out of food and did not refill the food items even after I approached the staff and asked. We still had 40min left for breakfast!! They seemed understaffed also, only one person at the front desk most of the time. Finally, the rooms were ok, somewhat clean and the beds were nice but the hotel hallway smelled really, really bad! So did the elevators. It smelled like cat urine and farm animals! (for real)We asked what the smell was and no one seemed to know? There was a huge water leak in our bathroom, draining from the ceiling in the middle of the night. I called down to the front desk and they said someone would be up. No one ever came. I went down to the desk and they said they would look into it. I still never saw or heard from anyone again. We checked out that day. I honestly would not recommending people stay at this hotel unless they are willing to stay in a 1 star hotel with little expectations. Positive: the pool was huge and my boys loved it! ...read more

It's location to a bus stop that took us to New York City and was an easy driving distance to Met Life stadium.
The double beds were tiny. The cable hookup on the back of the TV kept coming off and had to be tightened. There was a group of noisy kids (class trip) staying in the hotel, running the halls, but that's not the hotels fault.

Nice hotel for a nice price. Target was a five minute walk as was the bus stop for New York City. Took about 40 minutes to get into and 30 minutes to get out of the city. We practically had the pool/hot tub to ourselves. Ideal family style hotel for people that want to be close, but not in NYC. The morning breakfast was decent (eggs were kind of rubbery) but good selection of bagel, muffins, cereal, and waffles made up for it. ...read more

The staff for the most part were friendly, except for the lady from housekeeping who was extremely rude to us.
There was no hot water in the first room we got and they put us in a handicap accessible room with a shower that poured the water all over the floor. We spent lots of time cleaning up water. Then we had to move rooms and then the toilet was broken.

Please make sure you know what kind of room and that they give you what you booked for. Spent most of our time at the front desk trying to work out room issues. Not satisfied with my stay considering the rate I paid.

The room was nice, the staff was helpful, the beds were extremely comfortable and the pool was warm and clean.
The only thing was that the hall had a terrible food smell.

The pool was a nice break from the road; it was warm (yay!) and the hot tub was a delight. Everything else about the hotel was absolutely horrible!
The 1st room was colder than the hallway and the HEATER was blowing cold air. Switching rooms was an ordeal. The wallpaper was peeling off and the hot water ran out before we could rinse the pool off. Engineer dropping F-bombs in front of my kids.

Please read this review! We stay in cheap hotels all the time and our expectations are low. We usually look for a place with a pool to break up the road trip. This hotel was actually a splurge for us with a great rating on Priceline and we will never, ever go back to La Quinta Inn in Clifton, NJ! The employees were very friendly, but weren't empowered at all to take care of the numerous issues we had. The hotel was in awful shape. The hot water ran out. The Chief Engineer was dropping F-bombs out his open door as we waited for the elevator (with our 8 and 9 year old sons). I had to call security in the middle of the night about noisy guests and security came to our door instead of standing in the hallway and listening to the soccer game going on in the next room and knocking on their door. The only redemption for La Quinta is that they responded to my letter promptly and are sending us a free room certificate... believe me, we will NOT USE IT AT THIS HOTEL. ...read more
